20 January 2024:

Gilgo beach killer suspect Rex Heuermann's lawyer defends 'sadistic' internet searches after he's charged with fourth murder

PUBLISHED: 01:20 AEDT, 20 January 2024 | UPDATED: 01:46 AEDT, 20 January 2024
'Think about if they looked at your own personal search history, how all of a sudden you’re guilty because of your search history?'

Investigators say they found dozens of alarming internet searches on a burner phone and email account that Heuermann used under the name 'Thomas Hawk.'
The searches included 'torture redhead *advertiser censored*,' 'girl with face beat up,' 'chubby 10 year old girl crying,' and 'Asian twink tied up.'

On Tuesday Heuermann was charged with the killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, a 25-year-old sex worker who vanished in 2007.

Last summer he was charged with the murders of three of the 'Gilgo Beach four' - Megan Waterman, Amber Costello and Melissa Barthelemy.

IMO: RH had BURNER phones - multiple ! I would not be surprised if these BURNERS are RH's downfall.
And, yes Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) IMO is abhorrent!

um trying to NORMALIZE his searches? Unless he writes murder fantasy porn or true crime stories he has NO EXCUSES. The guy is a sicko.

I fully reserve the right to judge someone caught googling CSAM. They ARE guilty of something illegal and abominable.

AMEN!
It is NOT normal to search out that at all. His attorney is reaching.

Doesn't the thread title have to change now to "charged with 4 murders"?

Both AE and VH went to visit their loved one in court this week. Was watching News Nation with Cuomo who interviewed their attorney. Macedonio states they're still "processing" his charges. Cuomo asked what is bringing VH and AE to court. VH hasn't seen him since July 13 and so she went to court to see him and to process. And she was emotional to find out she was followed on the train and her DNA was taken. They listen to podcasts and read the newspapers about the events but they also need to go to court to process it. Ellerup still thinks the investigation is flawed and that he is being framed, according to the lawyer. So ridiculous, knowing they're apart of a $1M documentary series! MOO.

Chris Cuomo interviews Macedonio about Rex's hearing charging him with murder of 4th victim on Gilgo Beach. Macedonio claims his family thinks LE might be "framing" Rex H. I feel badly for the family, especially the daughter. It's a nightmare being caught up in such a horrible situation, making you question everything you believe about your parent.

Chris Cuomo asks if there's any chance Rex Heuermann will confess and tell what he did. Macedonio says no chance. Heuermann has an excellent defense attorney who won't allow that to happen. FWIW, It almost sounds like Macedonio thinks Rex H is innocent, too.

Thank you for posting this. I saw it on Youtube and wasn't sure if it was okay to post it.

It should be ok since it's from an established news media source. Any videos from broadcast network tv (local or national), cable news, etc. are good.

If I had heard, my parents were swingers at their (and my) own home, not discreet at a certain specialized club, I think, I would have had enough of both at the moment. I don't believe, I would long for seeing my father in addition at court, where he appears as the alleged multiple murderer of young women like myself. MOO

Fine. Maybe process with professionals in mental heath. Not with professionals in tabloid production.

It just popped into my apparently delayed-reaction mind that Macedonio wanted those sick weapons not to sell to sick collectors who only collect- he probably wanted to sell them to sick producers who wanted to feature them in their sick documentaries.

Or at the very least, have them in possession enough to get "exclusive" sindicated images of them.

I agree with you. It seems like Macedonio is supporting Rex's defense in every way possible.

There was a crack opened on the side of Macedonio considering Rex likely did something at 3:00 or 3:01. He said something along the lines of Asa not yet being able to come to terms that Rex did something, phrasing the sentence as if he, Macedonio, and others did believe Rex did something.

He got his Peacock deal. Now he needs to think about he comes off in the Final Cut. I think we saw him avoiding painting himself into a corner of believing Asa (if indeed he is accurately portraying her).

My guess is that the family has to attend court proceedings as part of the Peacock contract.

Good thinking! He likely did want to have them to include in the documentary for more $$$$$$$$$$ coming his way. MOO.

Exactly!!!! Their deal with the devil. They must be immune to hearing and seeing all the gory details of the horrifying things he did and said to those poor young women, along with all the rest of his perversions. MOO.

Maybe they were aware and thought it was normal. I have friends who were raised with nudist swingers who thought everyone's parents had nude parties. Food for thought.

I bet they thought a lot of weird things were normal in that household. MOO.

Agreed, Stretch Armstrong levels of reaching. The average person is not going to have that demented search history, it gives a distinct glimpse into RH mind IMO.

True and fair.

But I feel for those kids because there is a difference between discovering that peace, love and nudity were not normal and growing up to find out that loveless sex with people who are barely consenting (desperate for $$$, drugs, safety) is not normal.

It's different to find out your family was just open to the naked body and the majority thought that weird. What Rex's kids are learning about him is violent and depraved. And it's hard to claim it's the rest of society with the problem.

(Although as we know Rex's attorney tried to say it was the rest of us with the problem, by attempting to normalize Rex's searches for images of violence.)

With all of the tone-deaf statements and actions from the defense attorneys and Macedonio, they would serve their clients better if they just stayed quiet. Sure, its difficult defending someone who has committed horrible crimes against others.

From your reference to Macedonio saying Rex H might be innocent, we all know that every defense lawyer worth his weight in salt will be believable and adamant that their client is innocent, railroaded, not guilty or falsely accused.. you name it. What they say before court is in session is opinion and is not sworn testimony. They are only trying to defend the accused to try to unbias a skeptical public who normally believes anyone arrested is automatically guilty because the cops rarely screw up and get the wrong guy.

I get it. Defense lawyers... That is their job in the American legal system. The defendant, no matter how guilty they are, has a right to be defended vigorously. Our system has faults and is not perfect by a long shot. But the vast majority of people who are convicted, are guilty. And the majority of people who are let off or not prosecuted, were innocent to start with.

It's the ones in between that make the system imperfect.. Innocent serving time and guilty getting off for technicalities that drives us bonkers.
