It wasn’t a deck with a railing. It was more like a wood platform. Something similar is now in the more open back corner.

OIC. Thank you ! I can't remember what's new/old/in-between.

Agreed. And it's probably the only real work he did on that house. I mean seriously, maybe he did build something into it for his sick purposes. Goodness knows he's got plenty to hide.

And back on the subject of Gacy, the woman who represented Gacy and wrote a book about him is commenting on the case and noting, among other things, the many similarities between them. She mentions that gruesome book they found in RH's home, too.
She's saying the same thing as the guys in the Angenette Levy interview above - the police needed probable cause to conduct a second search, so they must have something significant for a judge to approve it. It was a little surprising after the Manorville search a couple of weeks ago to see them return to Rex H's house. It could have been something they found at Manorville or some other new information provided by a witness, etc. The retired detective/YouTube guy mentioned James Burke and witnesses brought forward by attorney John Ray. Burke and Heuermann may be linked, who knows. Another witness who spoke at John Ray's recent seminar on LISK claims to have seen them both at the same party on LI years ago.

And yes, the prosecution is going to have to resolve or explain many of the other unsolved murders of SW on LI. Heuermann's defemse attorneys will bring them up in his trial. There's still much more to learn about these cases in the coming months.

Also, this Fox affiliate is mentioning they're removing clear boxes with what appear to be women's clothes. And they're also mentioning the deck. But I think they're mentioning the deck in relation to the last search. Still listening to it.

Clear boxes of women's clothing... hmmm... really makes ya' wonder.

What is this book that they referenced in the videos above, the book in RH's home? TIA

There's probably a vault behind/beneath that vault.

He's an architect, for hell's sake.

I wonder, if there are suspended ceilings or a hiding place behind a brick wall (like I heard of in last night's True Crime docu of old solved cases). RH will have had enough ideas, trouble shooter, that he is.

Are the police still out there? Or have they left now

It was a book called "Death Scenes: A Homicide Detective’s Scrapbook," . I own a copy. For me it was just another teaching tool that helped me learn to read crime scenes. It's not for the faint of heart, though. Definitely NOT a coffee table book, if you get my meaning.

IMO based on my experience as an archaeologist, those look like textile remains. The way they flop into the bag doesn't seem to indicate a hard item either. MOO.
I was just reminded: last summer neighbors said RH used to burn things in his yard. Perhaps, those pieces were plastic.

'Alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann routinely burned garbage at home and once even dug a hole in his yard in the middle of the night, his longtime next-door neighbor claimed.'

I hope this search leads to answers on some other cases. I really feel that since RH was arrested this whole case has become a media circus, there are still victims that need names and justice. I'm guessing that the search upset her son so much last time that she was given a heads up and she took him away to spare him the upset.

The search upset her and her lawyer and they made it known at every opportunity. They should be upset for the crimes the police are trying to untangle by a SK! MOO

Did they build a new deck since the other one was torn up last July? I guess we need comparison pictures.

I do not believe any new deck was built, not realistic in my opinion.

they seem like hoarders. I don't believe that Rex would be able to resist hiding some things so that he would be able to revisit and relive...they even found hidey holes at Rader's house in the ground. now gacy was a devil and that house was disgusting...I can't even bear to think about it. another one is dahmer who had remains in his apartment..so god only knows what all some of these lunatics get up to in their basements, bomb shelter/soundproof cement bunker etc..
plus +++. sheds! sheds are notorious for finding evidence. they are going to find him out..they are putting it together,

I wonder what he is thinking. I think it's impossible that Rex can remember every thing on his devices that might lead to clues..I think things have taken a dramatic turn with them tossing this house now for days on end. mOO

"I spoke to Chris the other day, the son, and he told me that they were very upset that they delayed the trial," deVillers added.

Ray Tierney, the district attorney investigating the case, said "Investigations evolve, new information comes in and as that new information comes in, it becomes necessary to take additional steps and that's what we're doing."

Tierney confirmed that the return sweep is part of the same investigation.'''

they delayed because they are not done with this suspect yet...nope..they are like a dog on a bone. I hope Rex will consider a full confession because if Manorville becomes a more of a part of this saga and Rex can be tied to this other pocket area, there is no telling what all we are going to find out...I mean we know he's not found guilty yet, but my heart tells me he is more than just a Gilgo beach killer..he has been all over...mOO

This has aerial live footage... current 2024. I don't think I see a deck but maybe a porch (of sorts) no railing... which could be what @justk was describing. Maybe other ground coverings? I can't be certain exactly what changes have been made since July 2023. jmo

ETA: And, I just saw another aerial view showing what looks even more like a mini "deck" = wooden deck boards placed atop blocks. Will link if I can.

Eh... Headline: "Rex Heuermann: Suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer has 'acclimated' in jail amid ex-wife's 'therapeutic' visits"

From article: "She didn't visit him in the first three or four months of his incarceration, but she started visiting 'more frequently' in the last two months....These visits Ellerup's attorney Bob Macedonio said, 'I think is therapeutic for her and to get whatever kind of grasp on the situation she possibly can.'"

Yes, I'm sure it's wildly therapeutic! I'm sure it's "therapeutic" beyond belief. (Cha-ching$$) Is she smuggling in butter??

Gag me. Just... blech.

She has a hard time believeing it?
Once the trial starts I hope she will pay close attention.
