this isn't going to be popular , but if I was mrs rex h. even if I knew in my heart he was guilty, I would keep my mouth shut until he was convicted to never see the light of day. rex h is a scary dude and I think she knows it. but you guys, I haven't watched this thing yet..maybe she's not scared of him and she has some agenda or secrets... like bad secrets.

I strongly suspect every line and every utterance is heavily edited and might even have been written and rehearsed.

AE's stance may be because it has been determined that a loyal, victim wife "plays better in Peoria". The daughter taking a different stance creates some tension. Maybe those are their true positions. How can we possibly know? To me, this production is about money and ratings as much or more than getting the facts out there.

Just call me cynical. I realize there's no way any of us can understand the trauma the family has gone through in the last couple of years nor understand their emotional responses. I'm grateful not to know.

But Peacock shelling out big bucks indicates to me this is a business deal and to be wary of what you believe.

I see it differently than some. She's a victim, and one of his first. He preyed on her and IMO chose someone whom he knew he could snow. It's hard to fathom the degree of loyalty we're seeing but I think that he has trained her not to trust her own judgment and to remember that she'd be nothing without him, reminding her of all he's done for her. Marrying her, providing a home (such as it was), taking in her son, encouraging her visits abroad, remodeling the bathroom (*shiver*). Decades of that beat a woman down. RH counted on it.

It may take her decades to see the light.

I hope she finds the courage to do so.

And going back to the very beginning, he picked her for a reason. He swooped right in as her savior and preyed on her low self esteem and naivety. She came from an abusive first marriage and walked right into another one. She just never realized that she was repeating the cycle.

I think she still sees him as her savior somehow, maybe out of sheer force of will at this point.

I'm halfway thru the 2nd episode and I don't think Asa had any involvement. She strikes me as a spouse who was at minimum mentally abused. Her eyes seem to show she genuinely believes Rex is innocent. After hearing about her first marriage, the things she went through in her teens, and raising her son with special needs I agree with the posters here who think Rex married her as she was easy to manipulate.

Looks like the most valuable thing in the whole (old) house. RH has had indeed a "tolerant" wife, when she accepted this luxurious safe door, although for the rest of the house there wasn't much money left as we saw. Either she was tolerant or she knew, how important and required such a luxurious robust door would have been to protect a parallel life (his/their's) from discovery. MOO

Maybe she never knew the door was there.

ETA to add: I feel reasonably sure that door was sold in situ. Gone before any of us knew it was even a thing.

AE went from the frying pan into the furnace and Macedonio basically threw RH & AE under the bus suggesting had she not been so emotionally unstable she may have caught onto the allegations.

That's possible, but I didn't detect any nervousness or fear. Her body language, the way she spoke didn't seem deceptive in that way. JMO, ICBW, but she's appeared from day 1 to to be a strong person, unafraid to speak her mind. I recall the way she talked to the news media. She was defiant, almost rude. She's never seemed to me to be a meek or fearful person. JMO

I agree, but in my 1st marriage I was terrified of him, however, to others I seemed strong because no one else was trying to break me. I obviously don't know Asa but perhaps she's the same way. I was very in charge of my work life, home was a nightmare.
