Has anyone noticed that AE is no longer walking around with a cane, like she was in the beginning? What was that about?

Yes. I am curious about this as well.

All of these recent posts make me think that everyone is missing the big picture here:

When Heuermann is ultimately charged with, and then faces trial for, the murder of Karen Vergata, will Asa Ellerup be called as a witness to dispute the claims of testimony of witness who has already signed a sworn affidavit attesting visiting Hueuermann’s home with her then boyfriend, who was an NYPD officer at the time, along with Vergata, for swinger party that Asa Ellerup was also allegedly present for?

Unfortunately, Tierney has given no indication he intends to use this information but hopefully he is vetting it and hopefully, it's something he can use.

Not a big deal; some symptom that the cane helped is simply not present ATM.

A lot of illnesses and body problems flare up/disappear from time to time.

JMO, MOO

This is true and could certainly be possible. The timing is the reason I find it curious though. At the start BM went out of his way (to attempt?) to portray her in a certain way in the early days. And now there's a camera crew, asset transfers, a mini-makeover, and no cane. It is curious.

she worked for RH.... what kind of resume is that? "My Dad will give you a reference but he's in prison right now..."

That is rough but given her field, it shouldn't be impossible. There are jobs in that field that don't require front and center exposure or client contact. She could be looking at places like NYC Dept of Bldgs. She could even be an expediter for any number of construction companies. Maybe not at the salary she had (no idea what that was) and maybe below her level of experience (no idea what that is) but at least it keeps her in the game and she may even be able to set her own hours. We know this is what her father's business was so we have to assume she knows her way around this type of job.

They could potentially be called as witnesses by the prosecution assuming the allegations are deemed credible.

If she is having trouble getting work ATM, she also has UIB. Since she's been photograghed, it's possible some employers would be afraid she'd attract paparazzi. (Not that this is fair to her, but it's an employers world.)

She is in an unfortunate situation through no fault of her own. It's not easy, I'm sure. But as you pointed out, the victims survivors are coping with worse. She deserves empath, but does not need to be financially supported.

MOO
Something tells me this family won't need to "work" again. Isn't it ironic. MOO.

The bigger picture…….Rex has been front and center since his arrest in July. The focus has been predominantly on him and the Gilgo4 as the main event, with some side shows (Asa)to keep everyone busy/distracted.
There were 11 remains found in the Gilgo area and I am sure that there are more yet to be discovered. Manorville and Fire Island were other locations that remains were found , some tied to The Gilgo area. Then there are remains found on the North Shore of LI in several locations that may or may not be tied in. Again I’m sure there is more out there yet to be discovered.
From the beginning Suffolk county botched the case, IMO on purpose. Those running the show Don’t want these cases solved as too many heads will roll. Why wasn’t the FBI brought in early on or the NYS police? What about Nassau LE? this extends into their jurisdiction as well.
There are many people in Suffolk county whether it be officials, LE or civilians also tied into these cases in one form or another , yet they all lead nowhere? Nothing to see here, just move forward! And the best LE and the DA’s office could do after 12 years was release the image of initials on the back of a belt.
If it were not for attorney John Ray who has kept this alive we would know nothing and LISK would probably have faded away into history which is what IMO “THEY” wanted. That was until 2 years ago when Harrison was brought in . Suffolk had to make it look like LE were actually investigating the murders, there had to be some transparency. Harrison formed a task force and actually made some progress. He and his team took a fresh look at the evidence and brought forth a suspect who had long been on the radar, RH. One has to ask some questions though, is LE trying to pin everything on RH? Is he being used as a fall guy to protect others? Is Harrison’s departure actually because they were afraid he would uncover “to much” and “they” fear that others would be exposed? Why did it take so long for NYState to allow ancestral DNA to be used? When you have a police commissioner who is actually doing a good job, why would you as a candidate announce he would be replaced before your even elected? I could go on with the questions but it all points in one direction…
Why did Harrison go public with Ray? Because we, the public, Don’t believe in our elected officials, or LE, not even the media ($$$$)for that matter. Harrison helped bring Ray front and center so those with information would have a place they could go. I commend Harrison for that unconventional act before resigning, it showed that he like Ray are looking for the truth and justice.
The Bigger picture…. Rex is only one of the many involved , Ray’s work is showing us that. We are supposed to focus on RH and the distractions all the while the clock is ticking. As more time passes witnesses and evidence fades away , as do “they”.

What Ray and Harrison did with that press conference was brilliant when you think about it. How can anyone not take notice of those tips now. The information has been brought out into the open. Ray is not going to be silenced. I applaud his efforts and his character. And Harrison is such a class act. MOO.

I hear you. I just wish I never ever knew what dudette looked like, what she carried or how she groomed. I wish the only thing I knew about her is the statement she gave, perhaps through a representative, saying that she is horrified of the murders being investigated, and can't imagine the victims' suffering or being in the shoes the the victims' survivors. No matter who the murderer or murders are, she demands justice. ( If she sincerely doubts Rex's involvement, her statement could say so, with the caveat that a stont in jail waiting to defend himself is trivial compared to what the victims are going through. He has a future to work with.)

After that, no comment. No photos. No statements.

I have no interest in her canes, her blown out hair, her clothing, etc.

<modsnip> ... The family have signed a seven-figure deal $1m for documentary:

Quote from article: "Two independent sources confirmed to NewsNation Ellerup and her two children, Victoria and Christopher, will receive at least $1 million for participating in the doc"

The lawyer taking "care" of them will take a huge chunk of whatever amount they get.

No issue with person making lemonade with the shitty bag of rotten lemons they’ve been given. She was caught on camera worsts days of her life, literally her dirty laundry and unkempt home for world to see. Her disabled boy, daughter and her self on display for the world to pick over, speculate about etc. ooo I see them using food stamps, their house is worst, ooo creepy doll, they should get jobs…
She’s had a few months now and opportunity has fallen into her lap. She has made herself look tidy, as anyone would if the world is watching.
Media, news, John Ray are ALL also in it for the money. As if Mr Ray doesn’t do a blow-out and dress up for the camera!!
Mr Ray all about the civil damages, paid TV appearances, he’ll be after a chunk of ASA’s money for sure in civil suits.
If you want to hate on anyone, other than RH, then hate on the public who is the audience who literally the people paying ASA and her family.

Something is odd on this whole thing and the estranged wife’s legal representation IMO. I won’t be watching. I fear and it seems this entire matter will become a circus - if it has not already. It is unfortunate that NBC/Peacock is involved if that is accurate?

Might this be a way to monetize off the tragedy, and, therefore, perhaps be neither a good witness for the prosecution or the defense? And a means to avoid being called as a witness? (Maybe this also gives credence to the lawyer’s earlier representations that the client (estranged wife) would be in the courtroom to see and hear all court testimony? I hope cameras will be banned in the courtroom.)

And at this rate it is likely this supposed ‘reality show’ would be prior to any trial? To affect opinion perhaps?

I am also saddened to see the impending departure of Mr. Harrison. And it now seems apparent that the attorney representing the Gilbert family needs to keep at it full steam.
MOO
Edit/update thereafter: my vote would be the prosecution should have the estranged wife on the proposed witness list - which as I understand would preclude their attendance during testimony or evidentiary proceedings. MOO

<modsnip> ... The family have signed a seven-figure deal $1m for documentary:

“They will be filmed throughout the trial and after the trial’s outcome,” one source said. “The family will tell their entire story and everything about their life (with Heuermann) exclusively to the (documentary filmmakers).”

Ellerup’s lawyer, Robert Macedonio, is said to have signed a $400,000 deal while Vess Mitev, a lawyer for Heuermann’s daughter Victoria and his stepson Christopher, is said to have been paid $200,000. When contacted, Mitev and Macedonio both declined comment.

There's a photo of the mother/daughter sitting in their attorney's office dated July 31. Seems they planned this two weeks after his arrest. Why else take a picture of them in one's office?

To me, it's always been about $$$$ to these people. MOO.

They'll be telling their story, but I don't for one moment believe it will be the true story of their relationship or their lives. Fiction reality television. I wonder if any of what they claim will be fact-checked along the way. MOO.

The good thing about this is that they won't be reliant on taxpayers to pay their way in life and they will have
to pay taxes on that money. Others will always want a claim of it, they'll be forever reliant on shady lawyers to try to keep it, and they'll never be free again because of their fifteen minutes of fame in this. MOO.

I agree with all of this. JMO, the NY AG and governor need to get involved here. It's a big investigation, it probably needs some more money $$$$ to finish the work. That's been the process in other cases involving many victims and crime scenes. Since the NY state police are part of the task force, it means the state has been recently involved, so perhaps that needs to continue.

<modsnip> ... The family have signed a seven-figure deal $1m for documentary:

This is really offensive.

ETA: As for the discussion of the killer's family as victims, this case doesn't seem to be as clear-cut as others. There is credible evidence that Rex's wife had some knowledge of his criminal activity or at least should have had suspicions.

The family members of the victims of the LISK murders have had the most difficult battle, JMO. These are family victims who spent 13 yrs or more battling police to fully investigate the murders of their loved ones. Their struggle has been much more difficult, their grief, stress and financial burdens much greater. JMO
