TOTALLY agreed on this. I've wondered if he didn't buy that home and "maintain" it as he has as some weird type of vengeance against one/both of his parents.

I'm sorry, that mess of a house is just too, too strange. I've seen the inside of the house where it actually looks pretty nice, don't care. He turned his parents' home into the house from Green Acres. And seriously, it really does look like Green Acres house. This wasn't just a byproduct of hoarding, it's not just coincidental with some other factor that the house looks as it does, jmo. It's part of his agenda/vendetta. That guy is driven, he's fueled by really pure hate, again jmo. I wish every day that the only outlet for his hate had been his broken-down wreck of a house.

I am still grappling with the idea that anyone could live with something/someone who was that genuinely dysfunctional and sick and not have some awareness. Is AE telling us she never looked critically at the outside of her own house? What "excuse" did RH have for the condition of that house? Did she even bother trying to get an explanation? Was she afraid to ask for one?

She wasn't afraid to ask for his guns to be removed from evidence...

A spokesman for the Eastern District of New York, which has jurisdiction over federal crimes on Long Island, declined to comment.Mark Lesko, a veteran lawyer who previously was the acting U.S. attorney in Brooklyn and Central Islip, said the U.S. Department of Justice is likely closely following the state case."I would let the state case play out and monitor it to make sure he gets convicted and gets a stiff sentence," Lesko said. "If the case falls apart, because the cases rely ... primarily on DNA evidence, the feds may decide to take a hard, hard look at charging him, or if the state case is dismissed or reversed on appeal."

What is with the DOJ in DC trying to stick their nose into every high profile murder case these days. It's not a good look for them.

I would not mind if Trump’s bid for the Nobel peace prize (jk) would be to facilitate the disposal - by frying - of the serial killer who has had seemingly free reign in the POTUS’s primary city of residence for three decades.

I trust John Ray on these witness depositions. He's carefully vetted these women and has a lot of experience and skill in determining when people are not being honest. It's not surprising that Rex and his wife were involved in the "swinger" scene. For them, it seems to fit. The story told by the woman who went to a swinger party at Heuermann's house seemed legit. I could see Asa having the excuse of being pregnant to avoid group sex. The woman had nothing to gain by sharing her story, it was probably something she felt important to share in order to help convict Rex. No doubt she remembered him. He has a very unique physical appearance that most witnesses remember well.

I could be wrong but isn’t it likely there would be a crack smoking chief of police in SC right now if it weren’t for a few good ppl - and the FBI?

I also think this case is most likely a multi-state case. Time to rev up the protocols to ensure cross country sks can’t go undetected for so long.

Since the bodies were mostly in Suffolk County, that county had the lead. NYS had some authority overseeing the quality of the investigation, but the feds did not. The feds had incredible resources. Suffolk County pointedly excluded the Feds, although, in 2011, presumably to avoid the Burke/Spota convictions that occurred anyway. It seems to me, that the fact that Suffolk was pointedly excluding the Feds should have tickled the NYS capitol to take a closer look into the appropriateness of Suffolks investigation.Because including the Feds would have been appropriate.

Of course, the reputation of the federal government in 2011 was very different than more recent times. ATM, I shudder to consider the idea of a federalization of this investigation. In 2011, certainly by around 2013, I would have been celebrating the idea of a federal take over of the investigation.

I imagine she felt horrified to realize she could have been a witness to a violent crime and was unable to recognize it until the arrest of Heuermann and the ID of Vergata occurred.

I get how she trusted in her boyfriend at the time to keep things safe and legal, and I can't imagine how awful it must have felt to be face-to-face with evidence that she was involved in something neither safe nor legal. Nor ethical nor kind, for that matter.

She did the right thing with, as you said, Betty P, nothing at all to gain. She made a big mistake. Maybe someone died who would not have if she had taken other actions. It takes a very big woman to own up to that in public. It's much more than owning up to swinging, which itself could be judged harshly, even when there is no murder or coercion involved. Coming forward must be so humiliating, but it's really important. I greatly admire her.

I’ve often thought, his deep seated anger or hatred for one or both of his parents might actually be reflected in his treatment or lack of treatment to that home. That he takes pleasure in trashing it and watching it decay while he commits unthinkable acts in that home- the home where his anger and hatred was created and cultivated.

It is quite curious that there are virtually no images or details of his mother on the internet. It is also very curious as to why his father, who died in 1975, was listed as living in that house in Palmyra, VA from 1994-2019. We also know nothing about the man that Dolores shared the Palmyra home with, how they met, how he died and how his mother supposedly inherited that home from him after he died. There is no easily found info or pictures of him on the internet, either. That family appears to have many buried secrets.

Dolores seems to have lived with RH and his first wife, too in Fremont NY and in NJ. Who was residing in the current home during those years? His mother sold him the house in 1994 and bought the house in Palmyra, VA that same year. She now, seems to live with RH’s much older sister in upstate NY.

I thought it was the SCPD and local politicians that did everything possible to keep the FBI out of the LISK case. All the SCPD had to do was ask for the FBI's help. Of course if the FBI was involved they could discover the malfeasance of the SCPD and its officers and leadership in numerous areas.

I haven’t had a chance to listen to the entire show, but JMO, it would be a bad idea to split it up into multiple trials. Defense attorneys know they can wear down prosecutors by running up high costs putting on multiple trials and subsequent appeals. It becomes incredibly expensive and defense attorneys can often manipulate prosecutors into sweetheart deals for scum like Rex H.

Multiple trials also give defense attorneys too many opportunities to try their case in the news media. The arguments that the DNA evidence wasn’t tested at a proper lab is a typical falsehood from defense, trying to undermine public confidence in the evidence. Multiple trials gives defense many opportunities to do this.

Excellent point. I was thinking they want more hearings, procedures, etc to occur in the hopes that prosecution will make an error the defense can use in its favor. Not sure if that is the tactic, but with Mr. Building Code Expert, he himself might enjoy looking for loopholes to slip through.

HK-document gives you a hint. If you are a sk who likes to hang people up by their flesh, it’s a good idea to have them be small which makes it easier to keep them hanging for some time. Gravity and all that.
