There was some discussion here about that. From locals accounts, its a very busy area. The 59th Street Bridge is the only one to LI that has no toll to cross, so a lot of people use it. It might have been considered a good place to get lost in the crowd if you're concerned about LE tracking your phone pings or searching on security cams. Any locals here with ideas?

The possibility of RH targeting black women seems possible, but we'll have to see if LE chooses to investigate that angle. I hope they do. JMO, it also seems more likely RH was involved in the deaths of the poor women whose remains were left at Manorville, NY and those left in both places.

At the point where vehicles get on/off the 59St Bridge in Manhattan it is very busy and noisy with traffic, exhaust, horns from cars and trucks. It’s an old bridge, grimy best seen from a distance. Can google map.
“Scores” strip club was on the other side of the bridge on 60th Street. Was there in 1990s, maybe into early 00s.
That part of 59/60 streets was not a desirable residential address, rents were/are cheaper. There’s the area under the bridge, & sidewalk and area with no buildings along the side of exit ramp that sort of collected people hanging around and just seems desolate. Not lot of neighbors to complain.
In Manhattan, the vehicle access points to suburbs (places near bridges/tunnels) become a place to buy drugs, and I would guess also SWs.
On the other side of this bridge, in Queens, historically industrial areas and also gentlemen’s clubs & similar related types of places.
So, if vice is your thing, and you drive into and out of Manhattan to Long Island, it’s likely you are meeting people on both sides of the bridge for quick pickup. If SW, or “driver”, this area will be where you could network.
At a time in NYC, there were places where SW gathered, got dropped off and picked up after “shifts” by their drivers. By bridges, tunnels, bus depot and by the large 24 hr post office depots. I rented an apt by a post Office Depot. The girls & guys would gather outside my building - could hear chatter thru open window so could hear what was going on, noticed the ladies would get in cars and drive off then come back. Not sure the post office connection other than trucks and people activity all night be better environment than a quiet residential street.

And how do they know he did not rob her and take her belongings? he took her life and her belongings...so if you murder a sex worker in NY it's second degree unless you murder at least three in the designated amount of time? is that right?

I'm really confused by this, too. If any of our legal bods could explain it, I'd be happy to learn. Otherwise, it just kind of sounds like if you take a big enough interval between kills, then it's a lesser degree of murder, which, no, that's not how we should quantify the value of human life and the severity of an offence, and if that is genuinely the law, then that needs to change right now.

even if so . it could be for both purposes and given his proclivities it's not hard to assume. They may be able to tell based on possible injuries from those bindings. mOO

Though they may not mean much I was thinking possible connections or patterns between the cases earlier, including with the Gilgo Beach 4 murders.

For example, perhaps it is possible that Sunrise Highway could have been used as a possible roadway to access the site in Manorville, on Halsey Manor Road, where Valerie Mack and Jessica Taylor were discovered and the roads leading in and around Hempstead Lake State Park (where Peaches’ remains was discovered) and Oak Beach.

I also wonder if the atrocious way the remains of Peaches, Valerie Mack and Jessica Taylor were discovered, with the victims’ skulls, extremities and torsos not being found together, could possibly indicate the victims being targeted by the same perpetrator?

The perp appeared to want to distort or hinder the LE investigation by making identification of the victims extremely difficult for years. I wonder if one possible reason for this is because the perp was aware someone saw him with the victims and thus if the victims were identified , there would be a risk of him being identified too? Perhaps at the time of the crimes the perp lived with a parent, roommate or sibling or such who may have seen or talked to the victims and thus why the perp may have felt this risk existed?

I also wonder, if the same perp is involved, the reason they tried to destroy the tattoos on Valerie Mack’s and Jessica Taylor’s remains is because they realized that after listening to media coverage on Peaches’ case that tattoos could be used to identify victims, which could then hopefully lead to identifying and arresting their murderers?

I also wonder based on sites the Peaches, Valerie Mack and Jessica Taylor were tragically found, if the perp worked or volunteered with the Parks Departments, hunted, did some type of preservation or conservation work or even worked as a vet or with the animals in the area since these types of activities appear to be available in both Hempstead Lake State Park and Manorville?

lesser degree of murder , cheaper trial ? less of burden of proof? horrific murder of bondage,torture, rape and strangulation is 2nd degree murder?

not one person discussed this last night on the news..maybe I'm just not getting it..but in some states I think second degree murder means manslaughter. what do they think happened here? sometimes I get hooked on what is viewed as a small or unimportant detail in a larger picture..I can be really annoying about it. I agree and would love to get some insight from someone with legal or forensics expertise too. I reread the NYS penal codes online but of course since I don’t have a background in either field and am not privy to all the details of the investigation I don’t think it really helped me. I attached them below for anyone interested.

But without full disclosure from the defendant, how would any of that be determined? Skeletal remains, bound, found on a beach side by side with a minimum of three others killed and disposed of in the same way. If Maureen's case in combination with the other three doesn't show a pattern of behaviour that includes intent to kill, then what does?

On Tuesday Heuermann was charged with the killing of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, a 25-year-old sex worker who vanished in 2007.

And if anyone is disgusted by my legal actions, I want to hear about it. Maybe my reaction would be to shrug them off- maybe I wouldn't agree with their disgust or I would feel like there was a good reason for me to do the negativity judged thing.

I would learn more about the consequences of my behavior that I hadn't considered. I would rather learn about the impact of my behavior on others, because maybe I would rather stop, after hearing about the impact.

Any material produced for "harmless" gawking may have harmed others in its production. It may harm others in its being replayed. If my intention is to do no harm, I might change my behavior after learning about harm I inadvertently caused.

There is a reason to judge, and listen to judgements.
