Gilgo Beach LISK Serial Killer, Rex Heuermann, charged with 7 murders, July 2023 #16

A basement vault belonging to accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex A. Heuermann was disassembled Thursday as his family prepares to sell the Massapequa Park home where he lived during what prosecutors have alleged was a decades-long killing spree.

The large Pentagon door to the walk-in vault featured Heuermann’s initials "RAH" on it. It was pulled through Bilco doors by a team of five movers and hauled away on a trailer hitched to a Ford Super Duty 350 shortly before noon Thursday.

"They are cleaning up the house," attorney Robert Macedonio said. "They’re disposing whatever items they’re not going to keep and putting other items in storage, prepping the house for eventual sale."

There is no timetable for the house to be placed on the market, Macedonio said. The attorney declined to say where the vault door was being stored or if it had been sold.

The house, which has not yet been listed for sale, has an estimated value of between $677,000 and $733,000, according to the real estate websites Realtor.com and Zillow. It was built in 1956 by Heuermann’s parents and sold to him by his mother, Dorothy, for $170,000 in May 1994, Nassau County property records show.

The settlement was reached on Thursday, March 27 but it still needs to be finalized by a Suffolk County judge, ABC News reported.

"This has been in the works for the last couple years," Ellerup's attorney Bob Macedonio tells PEOPLE. "She needs to move on with her life for her and her children. She realizes that."

Macedonio says Ellerup is "withholding any judgment on the guilt or innocence of Rex until the conclusion of the trial. She still maintains the position that the man that she was married to for 29 years was not capable of committing these horrific crimes."
Catching up here, and just seeing this: She still maintains the position that the man that she was married to for 29 years was not capable of committing these horrific crimes.

And I see this was posted on April Fool's Day.

Appropriate!!

We'll see if she feels that way when, some time, probably not all that long from now, people are in a bidding war over RH's vault door.

Looks like the most valuable thing in the whole (old) house. RH has had indeed a "tolerant" wife, when she accepted this luxurious safe door, although for the rest of the house there wasn't much money left as we saw. Either she was tolerant or she knew, how important and required such a luxurious robust door would have been to protect a parallel life (his/their's) from discovery. MOO

He might have gaslighted her in any number of ways. He’s the earner - who’s she to criticise the embellishments he wants for his gun vault?

That said, the door is spectacularly decorative. And forbidding.

Kind of weird that it says Pentagon. And what is that MM symbol underneath?

EDIT: it’s probably an avatar for the pillar entrance to Pentagon. Although that has 16 pillars, not 7 like in the avatar/logo.

I can't see the MM symbol, but when reading my first thought was: Oh, his favorite letter! M. He seemed to like victim's names with M as first letter. Not only M, but.

ETA: Is the letter on the belt buckle perhaps a M and not a W??

That’s what I thought about too, but I guess the resolution is too poor for us to tell. It does remind me of the belt emblem.

After RH is found guilty, LE should have the door melted down.

Yes. Brady Park is pretty big, I was trying to narrow it down a bit.
I wonder if this is the reason LE said early on that they had to arrest RH sooner than anticipated because they believed he was about to strike again. The article said this event happened two weeks prior to him being arrested. If it was RH stalking her in a neighborhood park while she was biking, he was getting more brazen and LE had to act fast.
MOO

Joel Rifkin's graduation photo from East Meadow High School
'Both men were raised in suburban Long Island with Heuermann living in Massapequa Park, just nine miles from Rifkin's East Meadow home.

Rifkin, 66, is five years older than Heuermann and graduated East Meadow High School, while Heuermann graduated Berner High School.

Their high school yearbook photos showed an uncanny resemblance.

'Look at them, they look like twins,' Robert Mladinich, author of the book 'From the Mouth of the Monster: the Joel Rifkin Story,' told the Daily Mail.''

'Joel Rifkin and Rex Heuermann both grew up in two-parent homes. Both had difficult relationships with their fathers, were socially awkward as children and were incessantly bullied by their peers,' Mladinich said.''

'As adults, both frequented sex workers, which became a pre-occupation for them. Both [allegedly] committed murders of sex workers in the homes they shared with family members, where on some occasions they dismembered the bodies,' he said.''
''Both men seemingly hunted for the same types of victim - petite and slender - who worked as escorts or sex workers. ''

''She said another commonality in both cases is that the killers dismembered some of their victims which she called 'a unique commonality'.

Gilgo Beach Serial Killer: House of Secrets to stream on Peacock in June

From NBC: The series goes inside the suspect’s home for the first time, where never-before-heard testimony from his own family unravels a chilling portrait of a man accused of living a double life and hiding dark secrets under their own roof.

It's three 60-minute episodes. I'm told they'll drop on the same day. My understanding is it will be out in early June

Will it be on NBC and Peacock? I don't have Peacock.
