Yes there are stores all over the state for Marijuana.

I thought there might be widespread dispensaries, there are some here- but new laws going into effect may shut them down. It lowers odds for laced
Colorado Oh My!

Wikipedia- Florida Marijuana Law
Still Florida law says No rec use, even for 21 and older, even THC 3% or lower.
Med Use Legal with card

Penalties- depend on the county, amount, number of offense
20 g or less
Civil citations, community service
Fines $100- $1000

These are not super stiff penalties
It makes you wonder why they didn’t hang around or call for help

Drinking age is 21, Giovanni is 18?

Did they have something else in the car? Or have priors?

Panic

IMO

The "cousins" are not under age, and Gio did not take his belongings with him (from what has been reported). At least two of them have criminal records.
There are dispensaries all over Florida, you just have to show your medical card and ID. When you buy your product, they put a sticker with your name/info on it.
IMO.

Giovanni is 18 and they are older than 21?

If he did not take his belongings with him- who texted his mom from his phone?

Even more sketch- they tossed his stuff out of the car and left him?
These are cousins

So troubling
IMO

The first part of that question, only LE and the parties involved know. The second part, we have to wait for formal identification of POI's but Beverard County Sheriff's booking records would be a place to start, as if any historical charges aren't always updated at the county clerk's office right away (my opinion based on my personal experience looking at records in that county).

Thankfully Florida court records are fairly easy to search, unlike some other states. There is info out there, but we can't post anything unless they are names POI's/suspects.
Also, I am firmly in the "those are not Gio's cousins" camp.
I wonder if anything was missing from his backpack?
IMO.

The family shares.

So saddened to hear this. The remark in the article about the tox taking months is standard. Six weeks is the shorteset I've had any returned to me on investigations I had, and that was with a federal lab. My heart goes out to his Mom, Stepdad, Grandparents. brothers and sisters and all that loved him.

But not many cases of induced psychosis from the stuff so that would make this like one in a million if that’s the case

The cousin also allegedly said that a confrontation occurred on the side of the road, at which point, he claimed, Giovanni pulled out a knife. Bridgette said the cousin claimed they wrestled the knife from Giovanni, who then ran off.

Giovanni's mom described the behavior as unlike her son and said she believed he likely felt threatened and outnumbered.

Bridgette described her son, the eldest of her five kids, as a protector by nature because he always looked out for others, including one of his younger brothers who has autism.

I thought cannabis induced psychosis was rare as well, evidently it is not rare.
As per this article, acute psychosis symptoms can appear in about 1/200 people
I assume psychosis symptoms have a range of intensity

Rates and correlations of cannabis- associated psychotic symptoms
A study of 230,000 cannabis users
PWUC= People who use cannabis

Taken together, acute self-limiting psychotic symptoms in the context of cannabis use may occur in about 1 in 200 PWUC’s lifetime. Some individuals could be particularly sensitive to the adverse psychological effects of cannabis, such as young individuals or those with pre-existing mental health vulnerabilities. In light of the movements towards legalization of recreational cannabis, more research should focus on the potential harms related to cannabis use, to educate PWUC and the public about risks related to its use.

It is this unpredictable nature that bolsters some groups’ concerns about legalizing weed for recreational use.

My thoughts…
The weed of the past and the weed of the present are night and day different
The past was crushed or ground leaves with very low THC are of the past, I do not remember ever seeing what is called flower or bud in the ‘70s and ‘80s, at least not in Texas
Maybe other parts of the country were different back then- I don’t know as what I saw was grown locally or came in via Mexico. My guess is THC was not even 3%

The weed of the present can be high in THC due to hybridization of strains or enhancing after growth, you can purchase whole flowers, or bud and visibly see the trichomes- the parts high in resin containing THC. Purchasers label containers with THC %, and also give the % THC-A which is a precursor to THC- which changes upon heating

So- symptoms of psychosis that were not seen in the 70s and 80s are being seen now

The Problem with the Current High Potency THC Marijuana

I did reading and research on this when my kids began college in states where rec use is legal

Lets hope that justice is swift.

There are SO many red flags here. Why leave in the middle of the night? Who were the people he left with? Does anyone have names (not necessarily for us but for LE?) And things must have gone south quickly as it was stated he left at 1:30 and the text for help came at 1:51?
I want to say this in the most respectful way possible. I think more information needs to be shed on his mental state before leaving at 1:30, because that could give some pointers as to what happened and if foul play was involved, but generally interviews need to be conducted and the case needs to be flushed out. There's more going on here

Was away today and just returned.

Rest in gentle peace, Giovanni !!!

The grabbing of a knife does not sound in the least like him at all.
It seems he was protective of his younger siblings and has been described as kind and responsible.
What in god's name happened in that car that night ?
I am still admittedly suspicious of the official story.
Hope the autopsy is thorough.

I for one and not convinced he walked into that water and drowned... were there bruises or wounds on him ?

Even if this turns out to be a simple drowning -- the fact that according to the cousins they (forced ?) made him leave the car, and then drove off --- makes me fume.

So sorry and utmost condolences to his grieving loved ones.
What a beautiful smile he had !!
Imo.

Sounds legit, I really feel for his family. It looks like they are a pretty close knit bunch. When things went bad Mom’s the first person he texts. Its sad that they found him deceased but its good they found him. Now, may God help them to find out exactly what happened 💜
