Giovanni was vacationing with family in Englewood, Florida, when he left early Friday morning, August 1, 2025, to meet relatives in Mims, Florida. He was picked up around 1:30 a.m. by individuals from his father’s side of the family - people he had never met in person, only spoken to by phone.
During the drive north on I-75, an argument reportedly occurred. Giovanni exited the vehicle near State Road 70 in Manatee County and has not been seen since.
Shortly after, at 1:51 a.m., Giovanni sent his mother a chilling text that simply read:
“Help me mom.”
That was the last time anyone heard from him.
His phone and backpack were later found about half a mile up the road, reportedly by a truck driver near Bradenton, Florida.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this case with assistance from Brevard County authorities.
If you have any information on Giovanni Pelletier’s whereabouts, please call the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101. You can also contact your local authorities.

Snipped...
...More than 20 people joined the Brevard-based search party, which included at least one person with a drone and centered along Hammock Road in Mims.

"We got a bunch of anonymous tips to check this road," said Morgan Hull, one of the family members and friends who turned out for the search.

Thank you for the update.

Thank you for creating a thread. I just saw this case on social media.

I can think of two main scenarios that could have happened.

I think LE needs to get a search warrant for the vehicle and his cousins/friends phones, and if they simply let him out of the vehicle and drove away, nothing suspicious will be found, and they can get their possessions back.

But every possibility just needs to be checked.

Sometimes people do behave erratically and take off for various reasons, but if that happened, he's probably out in the area where his backpack was left behind. If so, he might have wandered further away than they think.

All just my speculation at this time.

Hull previously said that before disappearing, Pelletier sent a text to his mom at 1:51 that read, “Help me mom.” That was the last time anyone heard from him.

His phone was found thrown down the highway — and now nobody’s seen or heard from him since.

I personally find it weird that he was picked up at 1:30 AM to meet with alleged relatives he had never met in person.

Something is wrong with the whole story, not just the ending of it.

...his family claimed that he left Nims, Florida, with three men he had only spoken to over the phone, who claimed to be relatives of his father.

Does his father know the men?

My speculation: The missing information of who these men really are, why they picked him up in the middle of the night, and where they were all actually going would shed some light on what probably happened.

Let's hope LE is on the right track. I feel for his family.

There are SO many red flags here. Why leave in the middle of the night? Who were the people he left with? Does anyone have names (not necessarily for us but for LE?) And things must have gone south quickly as it was stated he left at 1:30 and the text for help came at 1:51?

Yes, I also saw this on Social Media and agree with the speculations.

I think someone is very confused. If he was in Englewood, and heading north on 75 and his belongings found near 70/Bradenton, but was heading to Mims, MIMS is on the OTHER side of the state... by Titusville (Cape Canaveral). Brevard County is on East Coast, Manatee on West coast. There are 2 ways people cross, I-4 and thru Ocala state forest. Englewood to SR 70 could be done in 20 minutes if you were speeding, and no traffic that late at night.

This article speaks about the individuals being cousins

Charlotte County sheriff’s investigators reported that the teen was with family in Englewood before leaving around 1:30 a.m. Aug. 1 with several cousins from his father's side, headed to visit more family in Brevard

This article speaks about the individuals being his cousin and two of his cousin friends

He was picked up by his cousin and two of the cousin's friends," Shelley Croft of We Are The Essentials said. "There were three individuals that came down from the Mims area to pick him up in Englewood at his grandparents' house."

The,three individuals, whoever they are, told authorities that Giovanni suddenly began to act "erratic," exiting the vehicle at one point as they traveled through Manatee County and walking away. Around that same time, Pelletier's mother received a text from him stating "Help me."
A trucker later found Pelletier's cellphone and backpack on a road near Bradenton.

All this happened 20 mins after,he left.

What scared him ?

Red emphasis mine. ^^^
Yet he had the wherewithal to text the, 'help me' message to his mom ?
This makes zero sense.

Also, why would they just let him walk away and then not help search for him ?
Imo.

If the account is true: Erratic behaviour, acting strange, walking away, makes me think of the Karlie Gusé case. I hope the 3 individuals did not give him some substance if you see what I mean.

ETA: (indeed)

The cousin who had called her overnight, before Giovanni disappeared, told her the group smoked marijuana with Giovanni after they picked him up and that Giovanni then began to panic. The cousin also claimed that Giovanni cursed at him, prompting a confrontation on the side of the road during which Giovanni allegedly pulled out a knife.

"When that happened, they said they wrestled the knife from him, and then my son took off running," Bridgette says.

Much more at
