I don't even visit the forum anymore b/c it is 75% full of busybodies with nothing else to do and if you disagree with them on anything (gun in car or the wet county controversy) then you are belittled and ranted at. unless you share exact views then you are not welcome there.

Why should she be given leniency? Because she's a senior? Because her family member is on the school board? Becasue she was scared? She, along with every student in Louisiana, and I dare say in the U.S., knows it is against school policy to bring a weapon onto school grounds. It is automatic expulsion if violated.

Sorry to rant. I just went thru an expulsion hearing this week for a student who threatened me, a school official/employee. Then, he called today to apologize. Was he expecting the situation to change? He's already been expelled....

This girl should not be given leniency. Whatever the punishment is for breaking the law and bringing the gun on school property she should receive. However, I believe in addition to this she should be given the chance for rehabilitation. She is not the enmy, guns and crime are the enemy. Maybe we can learn from her what brought her to the situation she is now in and learn from it inorder to help put an end to the violence in our schools. Prehaps through proper retribution and rehibiliation this girl can turn this bad situation into an opportunity for personal growith by changing the very bad path she is currently on and give back to society by letting us learn from her.
Its not about leinency, but humanity.

Where did she get the gun?

There should be consequences for those responsible through negligence or intention who allowed this child access to a deadly weapon.

I certainly hope they don't let this girl off---There are kids who have been in trouble for carrying Midol and cough drops in school because they are "drugs".

This girl is obviously already a loose cannon--she grabs her BEER BOTTLE and hits someone with it? Sounds like she's definately one person who shouldn't be having access to a firearm, especially at a school.

Yeah I agree she hit someone over the head with a beer bottle. Not Nice:snooty:

Absolutly!! no access to children for guns. The adult who made it possible for this chld to get a gun needs to be held responsible.
