From the Washington Post

Glen Campbell, a guitar prodigy and ballad singer who dominated the polished, string-swelling countrypolitan sound of the late 1960s and 1970s and cultivated a clean-cut image at odds with his once-stormy personal life, died Aug. 8 . He was 81.

RIP

Glen Campbell, Legendary Country Singer and Guitarist, Dies at 81

by Daniel Arkin

Glen Campbell, the country crooner and guitarist whose sentimental ballads and catchy pop hits soothed America during the tumult of the 1960s and 1970s, has died. He was 81.

The singer, a mainstay on AM radio stations with beloved tracks like "Rhinestone Cowboy," had suffered from Alzheimer's disease in recent years.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather," Campbell's family said in a statement posted on his website. No cause of death was immediately announced...

So sorry he had such a struggle these past years. His music brings back memories of such a simpler time, so long ago. Loved him in True Grit. RIP Glen.

BBM, that's how I feel, too!

Glen Campbell... my first concert. I was just a kid but my parents let me tag along :)

I've spent the last hour mentally reminiscing. I think I'm homesick.

I hope Glen has made it... "to where the sun keeps shining"

He was a musician's musician, loved playing in the studio. He spoke fondly of his years as a side man, working with the Wrecking Crew.

I love to see the youtube clips of Glen Campbell (literally a poor sharecropper's son from Arkansas) playing with a full orchestra.
