The European Court of Justice have finally forbidden the practise of hunting songbirds and thrushes by using sticks with glue.
French glue-trapping of birds not allowed, says EU court

I hope that Malta soon will stop allowing hunters to kill spring migrating birds on their way north. Just because something has been a tradition isn't a reason to let it continue, especially when the number of for example the number of turtle doves are down 77% since 1980.

OMG- How could such a practice have ever been allowed in the first place and why would hunters ever be allowed to kill spring migrating birds on their way North? I am so appalled and absolutely speechless- I have one conclusion: humans suck! time and time again this is proven to me in so many horrendous ways

glue traps for rodents are just as bad
cruel to the rodents yes but also, other animals and birds sometimes get stuck in them

I lived in Cyprus in the 1970s and there were areas of the bush where small bird shooting was 'extensive', to the point where any random handful of sand could be sifted to extract a small pile of lead shot. I kid you not.

Why would anyone even do this? Why do humans continue to do such cruel things to other creatures? Although with the depravity we have seen inflicted on fellow humans I'm not sure why I am surprised :(

very disturbing
we humans have to realize that we need to share this world with other species and stop murdering them (into extinction in some cases) for no reason

These particular humans that would do something like that cannot be reasoned with: they just don't care---
