God Hates the World: New Outrage From Group That Pickets GIs' Funerals

  • #21
Amazing to me how a small church of 70 can get attention, people should just ignore them, maybe they will go away.

I'd like to be a 'fly on the wall' when the leader of this group comes face to face with his Maker. I'd really like to witness that discussion!

We see this bunch all the time, and from what I've heard, they are all in the family.

It's really so sad to see those little kids carrying those signs...it's really a form of child abuse...IMO, to teach these kids this sort of hate. A couple of the family members did break away from the rest of this horrid family, but most seem to stay...why, I don't know.

My kids all went to KU and I remember them telling me that they'd see the Phelps bunch all the time. As we were leaving graduation back in 2006, traffic was pretty much at a stand still, and there the Phelps group was...just waving at everyone and waving their signs. We didn't look at them.

Since they are so close to us, they usually show up at all the military burials...but the group of motorcycles riders (that park in front of them and rev their engines) always also show up.

I think ignoring them is the way to go. I wish the media would stop covering things they do...but I am sure this wouldn't stop them. They'd come up with something even more nasty than what they do.

I personally think Fred Phelps is gay. He screams way too much about this. And I do believe old Fred and his bunch are going to be in for a shock when he does meet his Maker.

Fred and his bunch made a donation to our "appointed" DA's campaign fund. It wasn't long before the media got wind of this, and finally our "appointed" DA gave the money to the Right to Life Campaign (I think). I would have never taken this money in the first place.

I have a 20 year old son in Iraq (2nd tour) I Dare anyone to pickett his funeral should he not make it back. I guarantee there will be more funerals if they do!!!
My son is stationed at fort riley Kansas

And that's exactly what they want. Several of the Phelps kids are attorneys. That's why they taunt us...they such scumballs. They want us to lose it and do something that infinges on their rights.

I feel the same way as you do, but I just don't want this jerk to be able to haul anyone into court...and win. They are sick, sick people...and think of what they are doing to their children. It makes me ill.

I would love to see these people deported.

That would be so nice.

It's really a spooky sight to see the young kids in this group. It really makes me ill to think that they are being taught this hate. When you look at them and they are smiling and waving, they look like they could be at a ballgame enjoying the day. Then you look at the signs they have hoisted above their heads and it really makes you gag.

They must be homeschooled because we see them a lot during the school year during the day. I really feel this is child abuse. Too bad those kids can't be taken from that bunch.

Just call me, and Ill come up with my pepper spray. My husband will bring his concealed handgun. We'll take care of those guys.

It's hard for me to understand that there could be a group of such atrocious, amoral, and just plain dumb people who would do such blasphemous things.

I think they mostly have to be ignored, since we have free speech, but disrupting a funeral should be against the law IMO.

The KKK came to our town and we just ignored them.

I know your right....it just ticked me off to even think someone would picket his funeral or anyones funeral..as if the families dont have enough grief!
how about we send them over to Iraq? let them see how it really is over there

I completely understand how you feel. And really, I do feel the same way. And sending them to Iraq would be a wonderful idea!

They are just taunting everyone waiting for someone to lose it and do something to infringe upon their rights. They pretty much stay within the boundaries of the law, but they know they are making people very angry.

Phelps is a freak. Nothing new about that...we see this sort of person a lot. But what blows my mind is how he is able to control most of his family like he does. I can understand someone like Phelps being able to round up followers, because there are a lot of lost souls in this world...but his whole family? That's weird.

Not too long ago a couple of his children that broke away from his group, talked with the media about daily life with this Phelps freak. It was frightening to read the level of hate these people are exposed to daily. And the children...it's so sad for them.

High court agrees to hear funeral-protest case

By The Associated Press
03.08.10

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court is getting involved in the legal fight over the anti-gay protesters who show up at military funerals with inflammatory messages like "Thank God for dead soldiers."

The Court agreed today to consider whether the protesters' message, no matter how provocative and upsetting, is protected by the Constitution's First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of speech. Members of a Kansas-based church have picketed military funerals to spread their belief that deaths of U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq are punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.

The justices will hear an appeal from the father of a Marine killed in Iraq. Albert Snyder is seeking the reinstatement of a $5 million verdict against the protesters who picketed outside his son's funeral.

It'll be a sad day if SCOTUS finds that people like the Westboro freaks have a right to spread hate.
