The love stays...forever in our hearts
They are not playing God. God can save someone who has no chance. God can make enough medicine for 10 people last for 100. God can bring peace into the greatest chaos.
These doctors, if anything, KNOW they are not God and they are trying to make calm rational decisions now when the emotion is out of the equation. It is much harder to deny a vent to a 93yo woman with the flu and pneumonia, with her husband of 68 years and her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren pleading for her life. BUT, you can bet your ass that if there were one vent left and I had to pick between my 93 yo grandmother and a 7yo child who had a good chance of recovery, I'd pick the child any day, and my granny would agree with me!
Who thinks this is really wrong? We aren't talking about killing people on purpose. We are talking about complete crisis mode, down to the last pint of blood or the last tank of oxygen in the building. OF COURSE they are going to give it to the people who have the greatest chance of survival.
All these doctors have done is look at the statistics and given the first responders a priority list so they aren't trying to decide in a moment of emotion, panic, and fatigue. Because then we will all suffer. It has been done since time began, and it will not stop just b/c some copyeditor made him look like an investigative reporter.
