hi,

i've read many JBR books and some repeatedly......... but not for awhile

i was googling the grand jury info today.......

in terms of the recommendation (i believe) that J and P be charged, it seems to me to say (para-phrase) that they assisted someone in first degree murder and were guilty of child abuse (perhaps that they didn't seek help for her when she was in distress, not earlier abuse necessarily)...

anyway, if they had been charged, wouldn't boulder police have had to have a plausible theory as to the 1st degree murder?............ seems like almost all theories i've seen do not suggest that anyone engaged in 1st degree murder. at least not RDI theories ........ unless (thinking out loud), the police are saying that one of the parents ultimately caused her death from their alleged coverup of the original blunt force trauma. so the first degree was very very short term planning............. and if i havent made it clear enough, anything i said about R's is alleged.

so my actual question is: did the BPD present a theory as to killer?..... i'm assuming no or it would have been common knowledge by now.

thx in advance :)

oops, didn't see stickied thread.........

anyway, from denver post, but it's direct quote from the GJ

The grand jury also had alleged that each parent "did ... render assistance to a person, with intent to hinder, delay and prevent the discovery, detention, apprehension, prosecution, conviction and punishment of such person for the commission of a crime, knowing the person being assisted has committed and was suspected of the crime of murder in the first degree and child abuse resulting in death."

This article suggests the grand jury was presented with a PDI scenario:

Ex-Housekeeper Says Patsy Ramsey Killed JonBenet

"Afterward, Hoffmann-Pugh walked outside the federal courthouse in Denver and said she told the grand jury investigating the murder that she believes the beauty queen was killed by her mother, Patsy Ramsey."

The rendering assistance charges could refer to John and Patsy rendering assistance to each other.

Swiriz, thanks very much :)

i still don't understand assisting someone with 1st degree murder when you aren't seemingly charging that person with 1st degree murder......

i found this....... so 1st degree murder of a child wouldn't necessarily involve things like intent and planning, which is what i understood.......... now that i look at it, i still don't understand completely but this takes me furthers towards that goal

JonBenet Ramsey Case Encyclopedia / Patsy Ramsey

More Serious Charges Considered? Denver attorney Craig Silverman speculates: "There is a class one felony variation of Child Abuse Resulting in Death which is a form of First Degree Murder. The DA would need to prove that a person in a position of trust (John Ramsey and Patsy Ramsey),caused the child abuse which resulted in six year oldJonBenet’s death, or acted as an accomplice for the person who did. I surmise the grand jury considered this charge (as Count IV) for each Ramsey parent, but did not achieve the necessary nine out of twelve majorities to vote it up (True Bill) or down (no True Bill)."
