It just seems strange that they say to B “where’s the money” and he says it’s in the basement. They don’t go to the basement to look, they stay with B & C, tie up, torture, murder, then they go to the basement as per this post

and the amount “doesn’t satisfy them”. But they’ve already murdered C by this point surely if the previous post is correct?

Yeah, it’s not really smart to kill the people before you check what they said is true and before knowing you’ve got what you went there for.

I have a touch tone land line phone, upon which I can press redial with my nose even with one eye covered, but I can't dial a specific number without many false starts. It's too difficult to see and aim correctly as I get closer to the phone. But the redial button is set apart from the others. And it's not too difficult to remove the receiver from the phone.

So, hitting redial on a touch tone phone is a possibility. Do we know what kind of phone he had? It's hard to imagine that anyone his age would have a touch tone phone.

Another little detail, that I found out while re-reading the article. After
the first officers at the scene found the main door (through which the perps escaped) locked, then noticed the removed window frame
the article says that they "called for backup and entered the house, following the route the robbers took (through the window)"

It's been established he had a smartphone, but I don't think I've seen anywhere anything more specific.

his phone was charging on the nightstand - which would be his mobile

That detail about the locked door sounds strange at first. But then again, there are a lot of doors which require a use of a key to get inside even if it is not really locked from inside. Countless funny movie twists are based on just that.

Thanks @caylee17799 for translating it for us.
You're right, that's what it crossed my mind as well. But, in that case, wouldn't it say that the door was just "closed" or "appeared locked, but actually wasn't", or even "locked from the outside". The author could be inaccurate in his description (it wouldn't be the first time), and simply mean one of the above, but when I hear just "locked", both in English and in Greek, the first thing that comes to mind is "locked with a key".

It says "The robbers, having incapacitated the couple, got down to the basement." I agree, it doesn't make much sense. I mean, if I was the leader of this robbery, and the husband had told me immediately where they stored the money, maybe i'd put some duct tape over their mouths and tie them up to, let's say, the bedpost, and then i'd have one partner holding them/ the baby at gunpoint, while the rest of us could go,undisturbed, to take what we, supposedly, came in for at the first place.
That’s what I mean
I didn’t mean that your translation was bad
I meant that maybe the sequence of events is lost in translation

If his phone was charging then it was already ON, no need to press the on/off button. I wonder what type of phone he has, it would be impossible to press the on/off button on my phone with a nose.
Thanks for pointing this out, because that was also an error on my part. According to the statement he "pressed the button at the center of the screen with his nose (It doesn't say specifically home button, power button...), unlocked it and then was able to call 100". My own cellphone cannot be unlocked unless I press the power button that's on the side (something that, by the way, I can't do with my nose either), as there aren't any buttons on the screen, so I got confused and wrote that having my own phone in mind. Yes, his cellphone was obviously turned on, it just had to be unlocked.

I’m surprised if it was an iPhone that he didn’t just shout SIRI
Also not forgetting that wether it’s an iPhone or android, they both have easy emergency call access for just this type of situation

Depending upon the make, you don’t have to unlock it for emergency services call

I don’t expect LE to clarify that because I think that little tidbit only was said to explain why they got in through a window like the bad guys.
To them on the other hand this will be an important detail, because if the door was really locked from the inside then Huston!... we have a problem..., indeed.

His mouth was taped shut. Well, they wrapped tape around his whole head except his nose and there was a little space around (one of?) his eye(s) where he could see through.

Since there is supposedly CCTV footage of the 4th person standing guard at the front they will presumably have captured all four of them leaving the house.

Yeah, that might be possible on some devices, but to access the last called number from the list, you do need to unlock it IMO

I know, maybe the author misused the word "unlocked" and simply wanted to say "turned on the screen" or something to that effect. Or maybe he really went to the trouble of unlocking it, since he also called the neighbor afterwards, like @Orgona pointed out.

Do the police wear body cameras in Greece?

I'm just wondering if there will be any photographic evidence of the bindings on the husband before they untied him.

Very recently, following some police violence incidents, it was announced that they would do so from now on. However, I don't know if there was enough time (since it was proposed towards the end of March, If I recall correctly) to equip all police officers with body cameras, or even if all of them are supposed to wear them in the first place.

Agreed unless he’s not got a lock on his screen

...and his ears, because he could hear everything that went on..

If your entire head had been encased in duct tape, would there be missing hair or eyebrows, or maybe adhesive residue from removing it? How long was there between this happening and B appearing on TV?
