Taking into account that runners are advised to run against traffic, she must have been running at the left hand side of the road (towards the coastline). Perp could have driven past her further up the road, seen her and realized the opportunity, did a u-turn and stopped at the "parking spot" by the bridge, waiting for her. She would have seen the car as she approached, maybe even seen a man standing outside the car, doors wide open, him stretching out his arms and "admiring the seaview", but she wouldn't have felt alarmed, knowing the spot is popular for a quick stop. She runs right past him, he grabs her and quickly pulls her into the car. JMO

Possible scenario: "Would you mind taking a photo of us with this view behind us? Here's our phone. "
Who would say no? I likely wouldn't. I'd try to be helpful, particularly in a location that felt so safe.

This is my translation only. @CityDancer might have a better translation.

To travel to the bunker from Kolimbari/Afrata one possible road to travel is the Old National Road.
There is also a New National Road which may also have been traveled.
JMO

I'm going to modify my earlier opinion. Today I was in the village (spelled in English as Xamoudohori or Xamoudochori) where the bunkers are located to see a relative. I found the entrance to the road which lead to the bunkers. This entrance to the road which leads to the bunkers is about a 3-5 minute drive from the Old National Road. Because it is so close to the Old National Road it seems nearly certain that the perp(s) used the Old National Road rather than the New National Road. JMO

I mentioned earlier that a relative of mine in her 70s had never heard of the bunkers. Today I asked if her sons had ever heard of them. She said they had not. Her sons (in their late 40s/early 50s) grew up in the village and one of them still lives there and is a farmer there.

Thank you! Yours is a better translation than mine.

So great to have a local of Crete on here. Thank you for the valuable perspectives and information.

Thank you @Patrick Jane. It strikes me as so odd that nobody knew of the bunkers! In small villages like Xamoudochori elderly people know everything, even what time the neighbour had dinner last night :) Did you mention the nickname "ΜΠΟΥΝΓΚΕΣ" by which they're supposedly known among locals?

No, I didn't mention that nickname, but she knew what I was referring to, and told me where to find the entrance to the road to the bunkers.
The bunkers are 3-5 minutes from the Old National Road. But you need to drive another 3-5 minutes up the hill to reach what I'd call the heart of the village: which has the village church and the old homes and neighborhoods. This is where my relatives live. So, perhaps because of this distance to the bunkers that is why they did not know of them.

Is there a chance that the perp knew about the hole but didn’t realize it was part of a bunker since the opening to the bunker was covered by trees?

ETA: he may be just as surprised as everyone else to have learned it was a WWII bunker. The hole seems to be under an olive tree so perhaps locals thought it was for other uses.

I’m not fully surprised not all locals knew about the bunker. It seemed smaller and less consequential than some of the other ones on the island. I believe the people who would have knowledge of the bunker and/or the opening are people who have their olive trees at the bunker or someone with extensive WWII history. Given the burlap, that points strongly to an AG worker who has picked olives in the same grove the bunker is. This is also off season for harvesting so they may not have other work ( too much free time ) and nobody is around the trees much.

ETA: and I doubt the perp is sophisticated enough to research potential hiding spots that he didn’t have knowledge of beforehand.

Knocked her out? No. No, my friend. He wanted her very much alive. Conscious. Sensate.
IMO This would only work if the windows were heavily tinted.
Otherwise, the second the perp(s) drove into Kolimbari and then to the Old National Road he risked being spotted by pedestrians or onlookers. In Greece there are many of those, and I don't think the perp would risk it.
This is why I think she would have had to have been in the trunk (if it was a sedan) and why I was open to the idea of something like a van or truck being used in the abduction.
It could also be the case (I believe it was @otto who suggested this) that she could have been kept on the Afrata side until dark.
JMO

It has been reported that a car was used based on evidence found at the bunker. That excludes truck or van. It's still a bit of a mystery where Suzanne was taken after abduction - any back road, shack, or field works.

I agree that she would not be sitting in one of the passenger seats after abduction - too risky for the abductor.

The burlap indicates (MOO) that the perp knew the hole was very narrow and needed to be assured the body would slide through to the cave below without being caught up on something.

Combined with a number of other items already exhaustively covered in this thread the data point to a person with intimate knowledge of that particular area.

Yes, I know. But sometimes theories as to who and motives start getting out of hand and that’s how we bring it back to square one. <modsnip - uneccessary comment>

I'm a bit confused. Could this mean according to newer information rather than younger people? It would surprise me if age could be determined through genetic material, but who knows.

"The authorities have however focused research on specific people who know the area and the existence of German shelters.

People's admissions are continuous anyway, but it appears that police officers have probably arrived at specific people, according to younger information , which they are investigating, and the result from the genetic material collected by the authorities is also expected."

That's excellent news! It sounds like his cell phone was used to identify him.

"According to flashnews.gr, this is a young farmer, 27, father of a two-year-old from Maleme who lives in Kissamos. The arrested allegedly acknowledged his act.

Sixty-one-year-old Susan Eaton disappeared on July 4, and her body was spotted on July 9, after a major mobilization of both local authorities and volunteers, inside and outside of Greece, while the case involved large international agencies. Information found evidence of the 27-year-old's car to be traced to the area where the 60-year-old woman's body was transferred, which betrayed his identity. Πηγή: www.lifo.gr"
