That red mop of hair is simply amazing! It doesn't even look like any henna color I've seen, either.

Some people achieve it with pure henna, some have to add a bit of a plant called Rubia Tinctorum. I did that when I used to dye my hair fire engine red :)

Fascinating! That's for posting it! I learned that magenta hair color is the rarest on the planet!

Adding my thanks to yours! I've bookmarked it. Those Tarim mummies caused a tremendous fuss in China, which did not ( and I think still doesn't) agree they have red hair. I don't think people were allowed to even look at them for a long time.

That poor little sunburnt child in Pakistan - just simple lack of education means she's not protected from the sun with long sleeves and a veil - available to even the poorest family there. Wish more moms there could go to school when they are children.

It was the mention of the combination of skin problems and eye problems that made me think early on she might have albinism.

When I read up, it did say the coloring/eye problems/skin problems can all have different degrees, although there are always eye problems. I wonder if little M was found under a blanket because she had to be kept out of the sun?

But then you have this movie showing M, dancing in the full sun, blasting out of the sky. I doubt if it would be possible if she is really albino.

I can't even seem to find henna here in Germany. Sigh.

I'm not sure. But if you look closely at the clear photos of her face, there do seem to be old sunspots or marks that a child her age wouldn't normally have.

Keep in mind that if M is albino, she's been with a family that may not have any knowledge of what that is. So she could very well be in the sun despite having this condition due to ignorance and/or poverty.

But then she would be severely sunburned. I see not a slightest trace of a sunburn on her.

I've found in the polish press a gallery of pictures shoving the children of Ruseva. Gazeta.pl is a portal of "Gazeta Wyborcza", one of the biggest newspapers in Poland.

Anyway, on these pictures you can clearly see, that the oldest girl has fair skin, hazel eyes and red hair with clearly visible blonde roots. So that red hair colour IS a hair dye. And the girl has blond, very blond hair, but hazel eyes, what means she is not an albino.

So just to be sure I would check the DNA all the children there, fair one and these dark haired, for the relation with Rusevs.

There are at least 5 kinds of Albinism, and while I'm not a doctor, I feel M has at least type one or OA. She might not be sunburned in any pictures or media we currently have, but I don't see that as evidence that she can't be afflicted.

The Albino mom has brown eyes. Can a brown eyed albino and a brown eyed man produce a blue eyed baby? I'm not convinced that that the little blonde boy who looks like Maria and Maria herself are albino.

Speaking of the oldest girl. She looks a lot older, not that of a young girl. I even wonder if she could be Maria's mother? She resembles her the most. IMO.

Albino and gypsy, talk about drawing the short stick, only thing worse would be being born in places where albinos are routinely killed or dismembered.

Discrimination & ignorance are such ugly things. IMO
I'm hoping she can stay with the family that's been raising her

Wow, the lady who helieves she may he Maria's mom is only 37? I thought she was the grandma at first. She and the younger blonde woman are extremely thin. I'd say Maria was better off with the "Gypsies" unless she had to beg all day.

The girl was seven months old when they had to return to Bulgaria, and she said she could not afford to take the child with her.

She said she was talking to a woman she worked with who told her: "Give me this child, I will take care of it. You can come and take it back anytime you want.

"But I had other children to take care of and I couldn't go... I have never got any money for it."

Bulgarian officials said that during questioning, Ms Ruseva said she recognised Christos Salis and Eleftheria Dimopoulou as the people she left her child with.

Prosecutors announced they had pressed preliminary charges against Ms Ruseva for "deliberately selling a child while residing out of the country".

"A DNA test has been taken from Ruseva, and information has been collected about her trips to Greece in the last years,'' said a statement from the prosecutor's office.

Greek news site zougla.gr (http://tvkosmos.gr/article.asp?newsid=2046984)
earlier published what it said was the identity card of Ms Ruseva and a birth certificate for Maria from a hospital in Lamia, not far from Farsala and Larisa.

The birth certificate says the girl was born in January 2009.

Christos Salis and Eleftheria Dimopoulou told police Maria was four years old, but the Smile of the Child charity say medical examinations suggest she is more like five or six.

I think she looks remarkably like the other children but there is a quandry over how old she is?

It must be a hard life. Aging prematurely.

The supposed biological mother is 37. Romas get married young.
Her daughter could very well be in her twenties.
They are living a hard life, so could look older than they actually are.

So it looks like the woman she was found with worked with the birth mother. Became friends and friend agreed to keep her baby and raise her. The biological mom sometimes visits .,,
