''BERKELEY, Calif. - Friends, family, and colleagues are mourning the loss of a beloved UC Berkeley professor, who was fatally shot while visiting Greece earlier this month.
Przemysław Jeziorski, 43, an associate professor of marketing at the Haas School of Business, was killed July 4 in a suburb of Athens. He had traveled there to pick up his twins, according to friends and family.

Media reports say as Jeziorski was approaching his ex-wife's residence, a masked gunman shot him multiple times, killing him. The attacker fled the scene on foot. No arrests have been made. ''
Mungo said he had been in Greece for a custody hearing.
"He had planned to be in the courts that week for a custody conversation and hearing," she said. "And as his lawyers will say, he’s had some challenges with that, trying to get to an agreement."
Jeziorski was remembered as a brilliant academic and a devoted father.''

sounds like there is a clear possible motive :( jmo

Targeted, with a clear motive (child related). MOO.

I think he was clearly targeted. So who ordered it? There are probably only a few likely suspects, at most. Hopefully the full truth comes to light.

"The Murder of Przemysław Jeziorski in Greece: 'He Fought for His Children Until the Very End'.

It remains unclear who ordered the murder of Przemysław Jeziorski.

His ex-wife spoke to Greek media about his alcohol abuse and violence.

Friends and family of the 43-year-old, meanwhile, described in an interview with 'Fakt'
the financial struggles his ex-wife had been waging with Przemek for years ,
as well as his separation from their children.

'It's all nonsense, slandering him',
the Pole's best friend told us.

Przemysław Jeziorski's brother, Łukasz, also emphasizes how important family and children were to him.

'Research and family were very important to him.
He cared about his family.
He fought for his children until the very end.
He wanted to take the children to his hometown, Gdynia, as he did every year.
He was planning a trip to Disneyland Paris.
He was friendly, family-oriented.
He never refused to help',

brother described the victim."

I hope so as well.

I am worried, however, about how much resources the Greek Police can put into any investigation.

Greece has been battered by several financial crisis due to a combination of running out of national debt credit cards, internal corruption where everybody needs a cut of everything, and mass tax evasion mixed social benefit promises that are simply not sustainable.

They have also been experiencing a ten year "brain drain" where 50,000 Greeks, mostly of promising ability, leave the country every year.

Lengthy, many accolades.
''Born April 24, 1982, Jeziorski grew up in Gdynia, a northern Polish city on the Baltic Sea. His brother Łukasz said, despite being four years his junior, “We were like twins. We understood each other without words.” The brothers shared a love for metal music and sci-fi movies; Jeziorski took up classical and then electric guitar, and loved playing soccer. ''
''Jeziorski graduated in 2001 from Gdynia’s Naval High School III, considered one of the best secondary schools in the country. He was among a tight-knit group of math-focused classmates who competed in math, chess, and bridge tournaments, according to classmate Olga Adamkiewicz, chief marketing & sales officer for KGS SA, Poland’s national food industry group.

“Przemek was an exceptionally gifted and hard-working person, known for his sharp mind and, at times, his stubborn determination. Even in high school, he had a remarkable ability to analyze complex problems from multiple angles and to consider different perspectives—a skill that eventually led him to pursue a scientific career,” Adamkiewicz says. “Beneath his sharp intellect, he was a kind and compassionate soul. He was a dreamer at heart, filled with hopes and ambitions, with an innate curiosity about the world.”

The professor and his ex-wife were reportedly in the middle of a child custody battle.

Professor Zsolt Katona, who ABC San Francisco affiliate KGO spoke to on Monday, released a statement, writing:

"I have learned about the news that the Greek police made arrests in Przemek's case. I trust that the investigators will continue to work diligently and justice will be served. At this point our main priority should be to give all assistance to Przemek's brother to ensure his children's well being."

There are two things that come to mind reading about this case.

One, you really can never know what is going on behind closed doors in a family. The outward presentation often hides quite a bit.

Secondly, I can’t believe anyone would have thought they could get away with this without it being entirely obvious. Even if the investigation takes a bit, it’s not like LE don’t know where to look. Those poor children caught up in all of it. MOO

''According to our colleagues at ERT, two Greek nationals - the academic's former partner, aged 43, and her current partner of 35 years - as well as two Albanians and a Bulgarian were arrested. They are due to be brought to court on Thursday.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the murder of Przemyslaw Jeziorski was planned by his ex-partner, after a court decision awarding custody of their child to the teacher. The latter feared that her former spouse would take their two children to the United States, according to our colleagues at Greek television.

She then allegedly set up a plan with her current partner, a 35-year-old man. The latter is said to have contacted a man of Bulgarian nationality "to convince him to frighten or hit" Przemyslaw Jeziorski, who refused, but put him in contact with two Albanians, according to ERT.''

"Shocking details of the murder of a Polish professor in Greece.

A contract killing, with a lot of money at stake.

The brutal murder of a Polish professor on an Athens street has just been solved.

Five people have been arrested, including the victim's ex-wife and her current partner.

According to investigators, he was the one who shot the professor.

The killer did not act alone.
His accomplices allegedly demanded a large sum of money from him after the crime.
Their role was primarily to provide him with transportation and an alibi.
The perpetrator left his phone with one of them to provide an alibi.

The killer's accomplices wanted money for their silence.

The investigation revealed further shocking details.
As it turned out,
the Albanian accomplices, as soon as they realized the perpetrator had murdered the professor,
began blackmailing him.

They demanded $40,000-$50,000 from him to keep quiet.
The perpetrator agreed to pay,
but in the meantime, the police had already tracked him down."

''The victim’s ex-wife, Konstantina “Nadia” Michelidaki, denies any involvement, her lawyer told CNN.''
''Jeziorski’s two young children are now in Greek child custody, according to the victim’s brother.

“Przemek’s 10-year-old children, who are U.S. and Polish citizens, are now under care in accordance with Greek child custody procedures,” Łukasz Jeziorski said in a statement. “Our primary concern is their safety and wellbeing, and helping them reconnect with their family to minimize the trauma they have already endured.”

“Przemek loved his children and fought for them until the end. He paid the heaviest price, unnecessarily, for this,” the family statement said. “This summer, he wanted to bring his children to his hometown of Gdynia, Poland. ''

"The woman's partner, a Greek man,
confessed
to shooting the 43-year-old professor from Poland.
The others are suspected of aiding and abetting.

Police said the weapon used in the murder was not recovered.
Six shell casings and a bullet were found at the crime scene.

Earlier, the Greek portal Avgi reported that the victim had an appointment with the perpetrator and was waiting for him at the indicated place."

I seem to remember reading PJ was waiting for children at this place.

This is absolutely horrific tragedy.
These poor children!! 😥

"A woman appeared to brag on Facebook
that she had chosen a new, better dad for her kids
just weeks before she allegedly got her new boyfriend to kill her ex-husband.

Nadia Michelidaki, 43, and her boyfriend Christos Dounias, 35,
were arrested this week for the shooting murder of UC Berkeley professor Przemyslaw Jeziorski in Greece.

Back in May,
Michelidaki shared an AI image
showing a man in a suit looking unhappy and surrounded by money.
Next to him,
another man is seen smiling as he holds a fishing rod and hugs his son.

Michelidaki tagged her new boyfriend and wrote:
'When you realize that you picked the best dad for your kids'."

To add...

"Greek authorities said Michelidaki and Dounias planned the murder,
and that Dounias was the one to pull the trigger
as Jeziorski arrived to pick up his children."

Ummm...
"Best Dad chosen"....turned... murderer.

Oh, and this.....

Paraphrasing...

In May, in the US,
PJ sought a restraining order against his ex-wife
because he feared for his life,
(reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.)

He accused his ex wife of threats.

He also claimed Dounias assaulted him:
knocked his phone out of his hand
and kicked and pushed him.

Here...

" 'She made me afraid’:

Slain UC Berkeley professor sought restraining order against ex-wife."

The boyfriend seems to have contacts with criminal underground.
Because,
how on earth he found his accomplices???
A murderer chosen as "best Dad" by an evil woman

What a pair!
Mind boggles!

I hope the kids will be looked after by their Polish family.

Bbm.
Agreed.
It sounds from your link there were two additional arrests ?

This woman picked criminals and now the kids have lost both parents.
I do hope the family of the murdered man will get custody of them.
Imo.
