Gregory's nickname is Geddie.
Gregory was last seen at Big Lagoon County Park in Humboldt County, California on November 24, 2012. He was with his parents, sister, and his girlfriend, and their dog. While chasing a stick, the dog was pulled into the ocean by a wave. Gregory went in to rescue it and his father followed. Both of them were swept in. Mary tried to pull Gregory to shore and was swept in as well. Gregory's sister tried to help and was rescued by a bystander.
Searchers retrieved Gregory's mother's body from the water, and his father's body washed up. The dog returned to the shore on her own unharmed. But an extensive search turned up no sign of Gregory. He is presumed drowned.
