Yes, they have. Now it is entirely another question if they will be charged with it...but I do believe there could be charges brought against both Cindy and George at this point.

I agree. I had this conversation with someone else a few days ago. We both agreed that charges haven't been brought against them only because it would create a political problem and distract even more from finding Caylee.

But he's not charging the 10%. At least, that's what I thought he said tonight. Did anyone else hear that?

I did.

Padilla looks like Crocadile Dundee on crack. Holy cow, Greta must be blind from the glare on those glasses!

Watching re-run now.

The bond guy -- the bounty hunter's relative of some sort-- is putting up the bond himself. He's guaranteeing to pay $500,000 if Casey doesn't show up. That's what bond is. The 10% is what goes to the bonding agency (and that is not refundable.) But in this case, he's making the guarantee without anyone (he says) paying him the 10%.
At least that's what I understood. Transcripts should be up soon.

Exactly, I don't think the judge will buy any of it. This yahoo thinks he can set the bond conditions? Good luck with that one.

At the bond hearing, the judge already set bond conditions - that she would wear an ankle bracelet. There won't be another hearing on this. Once bond is set, if the bail bondsman shows up with the money at the jail, the jail releases the prisoner subject to the conditions. LE will outfit her with an ankle bracelet and arrange for the mental health visits. It won't go back before the judge so there's nothing for the judge to "buy." It's not a motion. It's a done deal. I believe somewhere it said that in Florida, LE only had until Aug 20th to do something or she would be released? I can't remember what it was. Anyway, if that thing isn't done or new charges are not brought, then by Monday, Aug 18th, when the bondsman shows up with the money, she's going to walk right out of the Orange County Correctional Facility.

If George, Cindy and Lee don't know anything about it, then this was arranged by Casey, possibly her attorney and the bail bondsman. It seems likely the collateral was exclusive information from Casey. Possibly some media company, writer or publisher was involved. The bondsman isn't going to write the story. Since she's not yet convicted, any "Son of Sam" laws wouldn't apply if Florida's law is typical -- the laws generally apply only to convicted criminals.
That is true. She can profit on this until she is convicted as far as I know. :waitasec:

What about the 2 undisclosed holds they have on Casey?

I doubt he's doing it out of the goodness of his heart and for free. Question is what is he getting for collateral? The biggest thing of value that Casey has is exclusive information.

Well, come to think of it, I might just confess to anything if that was the only way to get out of the room with Creepy Cowboy Bounty Hunter. Maybe this COULD work!

PattyG, what did you mean about Padilla making an easy 50K? He said his nephew (a bondsman) is putting up ALL the money. The Anthony's don't even have to come up with the 10%.

I have to look at NG transcript and listen to Greta again. The Anthony's don't have to come up with any money. But somehow, between Tony (nephew) and Leonard (uncle) something is going on there.

Could be free publicity. I love shows like Dog, The Bounty Hunter, but I never saw this guy's show ever!

The last I heard she was going to have to stay at her parents house. I don't think that Yahoo can spirit her off to part on yonder because he wants to. It is not a done deal. Judges amend, revoke and revise bond amounts all the time.

His collateral is already paying off as he was on both Greta and NG earlier tonight. Free advertising and his name in the media spotlight for a week or however long this lasts until she is back in jail.

That would have to be it. He said he really didn't know much about the case, just what his bounty-hunter relative told him when he asked him to make the bond.

That's because YOU provided the bail and if the defendant shows up, the court returns all of the money to the person who provided it. However, when a bail bondsman is involved, their nonrefundable fee is 10% of the amount of the bail -- for using their money and for their taking the risk that the defendant might flee.

I thought they were putting up the full 500K and they have nothing to lose??? They just said that on Greta.

You do have a point there! I would prefer to stay in the slammer if it were me! Just saying...

Exactly. They are mental health holds and we know that when the first appeal was denied the psych eval came into play. If the psych eval is not positive, IMO, there is a big chance bail could be revoked.

If Casey can lie to her mother, father, brother, friends, lovers, make up a nanny, taking LE on wild goose chases throughout Orlando to where she works, where she left her child, can lie to the FBI, borrow a shovel, return a shovel, and betray her daughter ... a man dressed like a cowboy all in black is not going to scare Casey one bit!!!

  • #319
Okay, so the conditions of bond are already set. What if Cowboy Bounty Hunter tells Casey, "I'll only get you out if you spend every moment of everyday with me", and she agrees. But once she gets home, she refuses. Can he "revoke" her bond?

Yes, it is what he said. They were putting up the full amount and not just ten percent.
