The round rubber thing is a flapper and they eventually wear out and need replacing. Might/might not have to do with the bleach inserts.

Its an easy fix, watch some YouTube videos and purchase the new flapper from Home Depot or hardware store and DIY.

If I can do it, anyone can. Thank Heavens for YouTube!
I just redid the bathroom 2 years ago so I don’t know how soon that part would wear out. Hopefully, not soon! I’ve been on YouTube a lot lately too. Mask patterns, gardening, recipes, pallet deck & the list goes on.

Zipped into the dollar store for my Smarties candy today. Everyone had a mask on but it was practically deserted anyway. It occurred to me later, I should probably buy extra. They are one of the few things that help with the “metal mouth.” It will not be pretty if they are in short supply. LOL!

Next, I went to the bulk store for gluten free flour. I was the only customer. I got a 1% discount for washing my hands at the door. Saved 20 cents. I would have washed my hands anyway.

I am not in the mood to cook or food prep. It’s hotter than hades and I really don’t want hot food anyway. So I’ve decided it is going to be sandwich and salad week.

I didn't make it back to Nino's before last week's specials ended, so I missed out on Eggland's Best brown eggs. Rao's pasta sauces are featured again this week, so I hope I can get through that aisle this weekend. Last week, DH got a Bell & Evans chicken for Tuscan Lemon Chicken on the grill, and this week Bell & Evans whole chickens are on butcher shop specials. Looks like we'll have a whole chicken again this weekend, but maybe I'll just roast it. We'll for sure get Michigan corn as it was delicious! I hope the Michigan tomatoes look better than last week. Swordfish is featured, and we always buy enough for two meals. We love it!

I was at Costco this weekend and there was a four pack of lysol spray just lying on top of other stuff in the medicine/beauty section. I decided it was meant for me as I have been nursing my one bottle since March. Everything was plentiful so fingers crossed we don't have shortages.

Their salmon is yummy - we made salmon burgers and baked some with homemade pesto as my Basil has grown into trees. We are going to try and make a roasted tomato and basil soup (I love Nature's Tables') because we had it at the chef's table on the cruise in december and again in March. The chef was kind enough to share most of his recipe so I will work on it this weekend since i plan to roast the tomatos on the grill - my tomato plant is 7 feet tall and I had to set it outside since it was not getting any blossoms. We did the pruning someone suggested so I am patiently waiting but bought two more in the meantime.

Picked up my produce this morning. I normally go on Monday but felt like it was too soon. So I waited until today. I think I’ll go back to Monday’s. This week they gave me 2 gallons of whole milk in addition to the veggies.

Some items were covered in mold or just too far gone to save. I do not use fresh cilantro and it doesn’t look too good anyway. There are enough jalapeños for an army. I do not use them either. The bok choy is very wilted. I’m not sure if it will perk up.

The big bag of broccoli looks good and the peeled garlic will come in handy. We have onions coming out our ears. I think I will chop and freeze them.

I am going to make a chocolate cream pie since I have so much milk. I couldn’t find a box of Jello brand cook and serve pudding. So I will make pudding from scratch.

I used Ina Garten's recipe for this: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/roasted-tomato-basil-soup-recipe-1940376

We're due for a Costco run this weekend. We love their sockeye salmon and get some whenever it's available. Lysol on our Costco list; hope they have it at our location. Maybe I'll go with DH just to get out of the house :D I don't really like large stores like that. I prefer Nino's where I know exactly where everything is and can usually get in and out in less than an hour for regular weekly grocery trips.

You can also wash those jalapeños and freeze them whole in a ziplock . Just take some out as needed.

I can get in and out of costco in 20 minutes if I go first thing. I don't like the crowd and wearing the mask is uncomfortable for me - I appreciate the link - I love Ina.

Ummm, I’ll pass. I don’t eat spicy foods. My youngest will use 1 or 2 in a recipe but that’s about it. I’ve got to ask around to see who wants them.

ETA: this response was in reference to your chicken recipe in the other thread. LOL!
I can read the recipe for the chicken but I wanted to watch the video. I don’t know how to flatten a chicken. I tried 6 times to get it to load. All it did was play her voice, no video at all. I’m going to try it on my laptop. I have a whole chicken I need to use soon. My oldest is coming for the weekend. She loves things grilled.

Truth be told, I've never butterflied the chicken myself. At Nino's, the butchers will cut up your whole chicken, or do the "spatchcock" maneuver to remove the backbone and flatten. I've watched videos and wouldn't try to do this myself  I'm sure there are many videos on how to do this. I guarantee that, if you use Ina's recipe, your Tuscan Lemon Chicken will be delicious!

Were the onions loose or bagged? There is a massive onion recall involving bagged onions in all varieties (red, white, etc.) for Salmonella. Many prepared salads and ready-to-go meals were recalled, as well, due to the onion content. We had a Vidalia and a red onion in the pantry when I first learned about the recall and tossed both even though they were loose when I got them at Nino's.

Recalled onions linked to Salmonella outbreak; 36 cases in Michigan

These were all from the Farm to Family produce box. See photo. The ones this week were covered in dirt. LOL! I'd say they were definitely not washed or processed. Most of the items we receive are loose.

Before the pandemic, we would get things in bags, like a 5 lb bag of potatoes or a bag of onions. Now though, with the need so great, they are splitting big bags of produce up. Sometimes I get 3 potatoes or 6 little Brussels sprouts, a few limes or lemons, etc.

I don't recall anyone here shopping at TJs regularly, but just in case, just saw this on NBC website. We went a few times when Trader Joe's first came to metro Detroit, but it really doesn't appeal to us. The fresh produce left a lot to be desired.

FDA says onions from Trader Joe's, salsa products now included in salmonella outbreak

There have been 640 reported cases of salmonella in 43 states linked to red, white, yellow and sweet onions distributed by Thomson International.

The outbreak of salmonella linked to onions has prompted a recall of Spokane Produce's salsa products, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The products include 15 oz. jars of Saddlin' Up Salsa Hot, Medium and Mild, as well as Salsa Verde in 15 oz. and gallon size containers. The best buy dates range from Aug. 16 to Sept. 30...

Here’s the other photo. You can see the bok choy is quite wilted. I had washed up and salvaged some of the peppers and tomatoes.

Those 4 white plastic bins of veggies come inside a big cardboard box.

The reason I take photos is so I can send them to others that I share with. Like all these dang peppers... ha!

I'm not a fan of jalapeno's, but someone can probably use those for stuffed jalapenos or jalapeno poppers.

Jalapeno Poppers?

Jalapeno Poppers?

Yes! Too spicy for me, and sometimes cheese doesn't like me, but I've them. Great appetizer.

Jalapeño poppers, or jalapeño bites, are jalapeño peppers that have been hollowed out, stuffed with a mixture of cheese, spices, and sometimes ground meat, and sometimes breaded and deep fried.
