I remember I was 14 with a couple of my friends and we were stupid and threw some snow balls at people's cars who were driving down my street. A guy got out of the car and chased us and I got away. My brain was developed enough to know that what I did was dangerous even though this was soft snow. I certainly knew not to throw rocks or heavy objects at cars.

Even a 5 year old knows not to throw stones at other children. Yes some brains are not 100% developed untill mid 20's but this is no excuse to throw heavy objects at moving vehicles and hitting and breaking windshields when people are driving.

I call BS.

"Something told me to go back and give her a hug." Kelly Bartell said the last time she saw Alexa Bartell, they said 'I love you' as always, but something told her to give her an extra hug and remind her to be safe.Three 18-year-old suspects, Joseph Koenig, Nicholas “Mitch” Karol-Chik, and Zachary Kwak, were arrested in connection with a string of rock-throwing incidents at vehicles in Colorado, including the senseless attack that killed 20-year-old Alexa Bartell.

I've been watching the trial - the state already rested last week. So probably not much longer. Interesting trial to follow, they're seeking attempted murder charges on most of the victims who were hit with rocks. Very interested to see how that turns out. It took days to get them through all the victims, really put it into context how much of a menace to the community these guys were.

The co defendants told wildly different stories of the night - minus that Joseph Koenig was the one that threw the rock that killed Alexa bartell. Which also makes me interested in how their sentencing turns out on the plea deals.

"Brazen defense of teenage boy

who killed young girl in rock attack

that's every driver's worst nightmare.

Joseph Koenig, now 20,
is claiming his undeveloped brain should lessen the punishment for his crime.

Now,
the defense is calling on expert testimony
to argue Koenig's 18-year-old brain at the time
wasn't developed enough
to be considered an adult
and that his charges should be dropped to manslaughter."

I'll have to watch it back, think he was mostly found guilty of all the major charges, including the attempted murder charges. Might have been some lessers in there.

Bartell’s mother, Kelly, addressed the media after the verdict was reached.

“This has been the hardest two years ever,” Bartell said. “And we got justice today, but I don’t know how to feel about it. I’m happy, but it doesn’t bring Alexa back. We don’t ever want this to happen to anyone else.

“It’s hard to be happy, or to feel satisfied that justice was served today,” Bartell continued. “Because one amazing life was lost. And three others were also lost. I don’t want to celebrate that, but I think justice was served.”
