***GUILTY*** Mark Sievers - 1st Degree Murder & Conspiracy

Is Mrs. Mummert's first name Jennifer? Is that her, 6th photo down from the top of JG's website? Or is that another doppelganger?
ARACHNE1 Wow, sure looks like the female who faithfully sat behind MMummert through out the entire trial. But, hard to tell from a "still" photograph. Perhaps if they had an annoying "looping video" of constant eye rolling and mocking smirks, I would be able to confirm it was her.:D:D:D.... backing slowly out of the room before someone throws a stapler at me.

6th photo down..... hmmm???

It seems like it's all in the family. And somebody's getting a free vacation, plus getting paid to do nothing, charged to JAC, no doubt. Too bad we had a touch of red tide over here.

This is disgusting. The evidence is overwhelming of his guilt. I followed this case from the beginning. Mark is a monster, IMO.

It is. I imagine getting off DR is the real goal here.

There will be nothing in the Autopsy Report and/or photo's that can possibly benefit his 'case'. Seems the ME's office are not happy with the request and haven't complied so far.

The step-mother is as full of it now, as she was back then. She talks like the only evidence against him was Wright's testimony. Personnel dying had no impact on the trial either that I recall, Mummert had ample time to prepare.

In the nightmarish event he is granted a new trial (ineffective counsel as there is nothing else, imo) the evidence against him is still the same. Overwhelming.

10/5/21 Update: Florida Supreme Court hears oral arguments in Sievers death penalty appeal. A Lee County jury recommended the death sentence for Sievers & Judge Bruce E. Kyle sentenced him to death in January 2020. Attorneys for Sievers filed the appeal with the Florida Supreme Court in February 2020. During Monday's hearing in Tallahassee, Sievers' attorney Kary Kinney & State prosecutor Christina Pacheco, the Florida assistant attorney general, were given time to provide evidence why the ruling should be overturned or stayed. Kinney argued that the state missed a deadline to add aggravating factors to their murder case which would in effect remove the death penalty aspect. She also brought up instructions from Kyle concerning a polygraph that was not given to Curtis Wayne Wright. Kinney said that the relationship between Wright & prosecutors was prejudicial. Kinney ended her portion of comments saying that without Wright's testimony, the State has no evidence that Sievers was involved in the murder of Teresa & errors that enhanced Wright's credibility gave his story more credence. Pacheco said nothing was hidden & there was nothing wrong with Kyle instructing the jury about the lack of a polygraph for Wright. The justices questioned both attorneys at length over the aggravating issues surrounding the filing deadline aspect. A spokesman for the Supreme Court said there is no timeline for a decision.
11/11/21 Update: Sievers’ attorney filed a motion to Relinquish Jurisdiction re new exculpatory evidence to the trial court, essentially asking for the trial court to take another look at the case with new evidence. The new evidence the attorney is referring to is a letter that was sent from Jimmy Rodgers, a man also convicted in the murder, to Bonnie Sievers, Mark Sievers’ mother. The letter claims Sievers was innocent & had nothing to do with the murder. The letter also claims testimony in the case was a lie. In the motion, Sievers’ attorney said the “new information would have impacted the jury’s consideration of the state’s case against Mr. Sievers at both the conviction & penalty stages of the trial.”
See letter here post #1044:

12/22/21: Motion for new trial based on newly discovered evidence of actual innocence filed. 1/3/22: State's response to defendant's Motion for New Trial based on newly discovered evidence filed. (Untimely motion-should have been filed 10 days after written final judgement of conviction & sentencing which was 1/3/20). Defendant's appeal is currently pending before the FL. Supreme Court. Briefing & argument have been held; the Court's opinion is pending. 2/1/22: Notice of Appearance of Counsel filed.
11/17/22 Update: Sievers raises myriad challenges to his convictions & death sentence, none of them meritorious. We affirm Sievers’ first-degree murder conviction & corresponding death sentence, as well as his conviction for conspiracy to commit murder. MUÑIZ, C.J., and CANADY, POLSTON, COURIEL, and GROSSHANS, JJ., concur. LABARGA, J., concurs in result with an opinion. FRANCIS, J., did not participate. Appeal denied.
