I am thinking of attending Saturday as well. Yes lets keep each other abreast of parking, Time, meeting up for those who want to etc.

Sorry if I seem behind times here, but I have had a busy weekend, and am just trying to catch up. I did however see the verdict come out on Friday night. Thank God Justice is served.

I just watched Rodney's interview with CTV, WOW is about all I can say. That Man is something else. I am not sure I could have the grace and dignity he has had through all this if it were my child. I honestly believe he has been strong for the rest of Canada when in fact it should have been us being strong for him. I pray he always feels Tori beside him and knows how unbelievably proud she must be of him!!! I also hope Tara and Daryn feel Tori and pray they draw strength daily from Tori. Everyday I'm sure is an uphill battle.

May the two people responsible for Tori's death rot in hell!!!!

Isnt he just amazing?? I think that was the first time I saw him cry. It was heart wrenching but happy at the same time. Nothing better than 2 monsters being sentenced to life...You know that your baby isnt coming home but you can be thankful that these disgusting none human beings will forever be sitting behind bars. Justice is a good thing.

I always want to say I am so sorry for all you have been through Confusedashell also with this trial. I did see your earlier post and the connection you had. Sorry is all I can say.

Every female that walked up to testify are heros in this case and helped bring justice to Tori. I hope they all realize that if it wasnt for what they did he might have gotten off. That is something I cant even think about.

How I interrupted the article on the appeal and change of venue is because it stated the defence was looking at Hamilton and it was moved to London which is only a short distance away from Woodstock.

I wish i could go tomorrow. I have an 11 a.m. appt. i really shouldn't change. I had already done so to attend trial.

When the Courtroom fills the rest go to overflow room.

The great part about the overflow room is there was one camera constantly on Rafferty. Depending on where you sit in the Courtroom one may not have a clear shot of him.

I think Derstine did great for what he had. The evidence was overwhelming and he fought for MTR even thought he knew he was guilty.

He put up a good fight.

Good thing these jurors made the right choice. I cant imagine how they would have felt if they didnt.

I would never want to be a juror or a defence lawyer

Amen to your Derstine comments crazyladi.

WRT the jurors having made the right choice, I'm sure we can all agree on that ... however, i find it so unsettling that a country was sitting here on pins and needles knowing that some of the most damning evidence was in OUR hands, but not the hands of those who were charged with deciding the outcome of this trial. Had they acquitted him, the term "bring the administration of justice into disrepute" would have thundered across this country while that snivelling, smug monster would have enjoyed the rest of his life, crawling among us.

Lets keep each other informed right up to next Saturday. If i cant drum up somebody to come with i have no problem driving in myself. Especially if some of you's are willing to meet prior and stand together. For those inclined perhaps we could have a coffee after or better yet 1 stiff drink lol

Sounds good to me. Do you live near the GTA?

Is anyone following other cases on websleuths? Are there any other Canadian cases on here?

If you go to the main board, then select a forum (i.e. Crimes in the News, or Missing but not forgotten Discussion), then use the "search forum" feature (near the top right of the page) with the word "Canada" it will bring up a lot of Canadian cases. Unfortunately not all threads contain the word Canada, and may be simply titled for example, "Human Torture Chamber", or you'll see the word "Ontario" etc. Takes a bit of wading around in muddy waters ;)

Just make sure to bookmark them so they aren't so hard to find next time.

Maybe another WSer has a better suggestion how to find them.

I would really like to go to the sentencing. Is anyone else planning on going?? Anyone from the grey bruce area?

I don't know SB, I still don't think he would be walking among us, because I still think he would have been convicted of kidnapping which would have automatically brought a first degree murder charge. I think the contention among alot of us was the sexual assault charge, whilst I thought there definitely was enough to convict him of that, I think a few posters didn't think so which made me waiver a few times on that point.

That said, I think crown would have appealed whatever light sentence he could have gotten. I cannot imagine the thought of MR walking would sit well with them or the citizens of this country or the family of Victoria.

I think that if MR appeals, it might possibly be an appeal made out of desperation, as there is almost nothing he can appeal, except maybe inclusion of TLM's original confession at his trial. JMO

Feels like such a kinship here. If others are inclined let me know what cases you will be following. Especially Canadian one's. After I/we see this one thru. I feel as tho i need next Saturday. I have never felt as affected as i have with this case. The other 2 that bothered me was Bernardo and Williams. Way to close for comfort. Tori's case really hit me hard as many of us were. Attending Court made it real. I could no longer compartmentalize it in my brain to deal. I have looked into the eyes of a killer. A horrific killer. It sticks. So i think Saturday is a good thing. I felt so sad after the verdict. Happy it was the right verdict but in a way sad it was over. I didn't want Tori to disappear from the headlines. I didn't want to move on to another case. I wasn't ready to let go. Moving in that direction now and Saturday will be a tribute to her very short life.

Hi Guys - just a couple notes and SillyBilly, I'm just jumping off your post, not directing this at you.

First - if you alert the thread and just say - for Salem, please add Canada to the title, I will fix it up for you as time allows.

Second - please do NOT talk about getting together on the open threads. Move that to the private messaging system. Remember this is a PUBLIC forum and anyone can see what you write, not just our trusted members, but any member of the public. We all need to be aware that what ever we post can be see by the WORLD.

Thanks,

Salem
