Sidney Moorer, accused in the disappearance of Heather Elvis will once again face a jury in September. The retrial will take place in Horry County instead of Georgetown County.

Dennis also approved a questionnaire be submitted to the jury, so long as both the prosecution and the defense agree on the questions.

A mistrial was declared in Sidney Moorer’s original 2016 kidnapping trial.

In August 2017, Moorer was sentenced to 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of obstruction of justice for impeding the investigation into Elvis’ disappearance.

Last year, a jury convicted Moorer’s wife, Tammy Moorer, of kidnapping Elvis. She is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence.

‘Three more months? It’ll go by fast:’ Sidney Moorer retrial set for September in Horry County

I'm assuming trial will be held in same courthouse as Tammy's trial, in Conway, SC. I'm going to try and attend as much as I can. I live about an hour away.

So, so hoping that Sidney's re-trial results in the same verdict as Tammy's.

I think he might have a better chance of getting off since Tammy won't be on the stand. She was her undoing!

Will the prosecution be allowed to introduce into evidence that his wife was prosecuted and found guilty, for the same crime?

Is there anyone here that is an expert who can say for sure? I'm guessing the answer is No but I'm hoping the answer is yes.

She can be called to testify right?

I'm going to say no, too prejudicial.

Seems like they allowed SM's incarceration into evidence, but maybe I am mis-remembering.

Great news. Hope you can attend some days.

Remember that we love all the gory details like whether the defendant is wearing ankle cuffs that lock him to his chair and things like that. LOL :)

I was just catching up and wondered what it is like for her.

Me too. She is used to calling the shots and manipulating things, it must be maddening for her sitting in the cell. (No doubt she still tries to get her mother and now this “lawyer” to do her bidding. I picture her with that plastic tub working away on her new defense. Everyone is to blame but her.)

I’m just so glad she is where she is. But where is Heather? I pray someday we will have an answer to that question so the Elvis family can put their daughter to rest. May both the Moorers rot for getting rid of Heather then making the Elvises go through daily torture over what happened to her. Beyond cruel.
