Defense atty continues cross:

Now asking about search at SM's

No items had HE's DNA on them

Defense asks if any DNA from SS or JF found---not in JD's report--she didn't collect any and didn't recognize names

Still cross-examining JD:

JD collected HE's DNA at her apt.
A driver's license in the name of Jamie Morse was collected from a cigarette pack at HE's apt
HE's debit card was in vicinity of JM driver's license

Defense atty attempts to suggest DL is used as fake ID--JD says she wouldn't know

A hotel key/club card Player's Club was found in HE's apt.
I wonder what "Palace Player's Club" is. There is a Palace Resort in Myrtle Beach. A Google search for "Palace Players Club" returns a resort in Biloxi, MS.

The Players Club | Palace Casino Resort | Biloxi, MS

Did they go through Mississippi on their cross-country trip?

State says they have 15 witnesses left. Defense says they have "maybe" 7. So we're approaching the half way mark on this trial. Not bad.

Defense, questioning a Sprint employee, appears to be trying to convince the jury that cell phone location data collected by the company is inaccurate.

Re--direct:

JD only collected evidence from these locations, not anywhere r/t SS or JF.

ETA: locations = TE's residence, specifically HE vehicle, PTL, and initial search of SM residence

Redirect cross by the State.

Jersey Girl. I remember that came out at the trial but they found Ashleys phone and ipad IN the Moorer house... she was staying at her MOM"S house.... Unless the combined warrants and took her phone out of PC's house.... and the list is combined. They didn't know at the time that Ashley was going to alibi them, (among all the other 'alibi's)
I wonder if they took her Dad's phone...i think phones changed hands a few times and other disappeared between first interview and other search warrants.

IMO, I do not think LE did too great of a job collecting evidence at PTL. How was PTL not a possible crime scene and her car for that matter? LE did not even thoroughly search PTL until 8 days later. And thoroughly is an exaggeration. They spent more time in and near the water. SMH!

I missed that, why are they taking a Break?

On redirect, Solicitor Helms focused mainly on clarifying Touch DNA. JD stated Touch DNA is very sensitive and tricky. It's unlikely to last more than 24 hours. Another person, who secretes more "bodily fluid can override" existing Touch DNA. Weather can erode Touch DNA. Cleaning can remove Touch DNA. It's typically skin cells or bodily fluid.

The court is in recess.

Re-cross of JD:

Scenes were not initially processed as crime scenes--if they had been would be done differently

Now taking 15 min. break

Wonder what Debbie Elvis is talking to the crime scene investigator about?

Pee, stretch the legs, get a drink of water, etc.

They do break for about 15 minutes every hour and a half.

Since they started at 9:30, break was at 11:00am. They'll probably go until 12:30 or so and return at 2:00pm from lunch with a 3:30pm break again.

That's the pattern I've been seeing.

Ok, back to trial :p

Also during JD testimony: cigarette butts collected at PTL were negative for SM's DNA

JD didn't find any blood or evidence of a struggle at PTL. At the time, focus was on locating HE, not investigating a crime.

now JD is being cross examined by defense

HE's vehicle had been moved from landing to TE's residence before she processed vehicle. Vehicle was searched/processed under consent from TE, no search warrant, vehicle not transported to LE facility.

PTL is asphalt, road to PTL is asphalt--no tire impressions available.

BBM

The landing is not all asphalt/black-top like a Wal-Mart parking lot.

On the outer edges of the lot is dirt, sandy soil, tree debris, and puddles that easily show tire tracks. Even at that time, the lot, which is actually more of a crushed asphalt shows tires tracks all over the place. Especially during the rainy season when the ground is constantly wet.

If you look at this Google Map of PTL, you can clearly see a tire track in the right-hand corner.

And one of the pics I took a week after the initial search on the 11th of December, 2013 shows the soft, sandy, wet ground.
