Here’s what the state, defense say Tammy Moorer did before Heather Elvis went missing

“When this gets out, this puzzle piece, and become [common?] knowledge, the fire, the jealousy inside Tammy Moorer becomes rage,” said Chris Helms, assistant solicitor.

“She knows wherever she is,” Helms said speaking of Elvis. “Sidney Moorer knows, and that woman right over there knows,” he said pointing to Tammy Moorer.

The state’s case is based on circumstantial evidence, Helms said, adding “there’s a whole of circumstances.”

Defense attorneys argued the state’s case is one of trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

“The government is trying to make Tammy the scapegoat,” defense attorney Casey Brown said.

There was no face to face meeting between Tammy Moorer and Heather Elvis, Brown said. There is also no agreement, no conspiracy, to kidnap, he said.

Tammy Moorer’s case has dragged for five years and Tammy Moorer has had to endure rumors on social media, Brown said.

A former manager of the tilted Kilt is talking about Heather Elvis and her behavior when before and after she met Sidney Moorer.

Defense bringing up that Elvis got into an argument with her family and was living out of her car at one point, stayed with Cooke for a couple of days and then lived with a man she worked with at House of Blues and asked if he was the abusive boyfriend.

Jessica Cooke says she was a manager at the Tilted Kilt at the time where Heather also worked. Said she was always happy at work and knew of the relationship between Sidney and Heather.

Cooke says Sidney Moorer also worked as a maintenance worker there. Would bring Heather bagels and coffee during her shifts.

Prosecutors asked Cooke if Heather Elvis was seen with any other men during or shortly after their relationship. Cooke said no. Said Elvis was once caught having sex at work with Sidney Moorer.

We are taking a 10-15 minute break.

One very key thing perked my interest, in the State's opening. ....that Sidney got his phone back the morning after Heather went missing. That is the witness that I want to hear from.

This detail makes it seem like Tammy knew that Heather was no longer a problem for her.

In the cross examination defense asked about the black eye Cooke testified seeing Heather Elvis had one day at work, but Cooke said she received two different stories about it.

Defense also asked Cooke about her noticing Heather Elvis gaining weight. She said the pregnancy test Elvis took came up as error. Defense asked about the kind of food they sell at the Tilted Kilt and asked if its typical a 20 year old gain weight at that age.

I realize that the jury box isn't being shown by the live stream. It just seems to me that Tammy is sitting at the end of the defense table, looking straight at the jury box. Am I seeing/thinking this correctly? If so, it seems like a huge mistake for the defense to make.

I'm guessing Tammy doesn't have any friends - no one is sitting behind her... 2 empty rows!

And can you imagine the expressions and reactions they are seeing?
