You know someone who uses food stamps and gets Medicaid for their children (all the while living in a brand new mortgage free house and driving a brand new truck & claiming to have perfect credit) would for sure need a public defender - in this case an appointed attorney for indigent defense.

Surely she wouldn’t use her own funds for a lawyer. She wants for us to pay for it.

Some of the key things that came out today (IMO) are:
  • police found a pregnancy test box in Heather's apartment (but no test or applicator)
  • an unfired bullet was found in Heather's car
  • police observed a shotgun shell casing, opened bag of cement and some cleaning fluid near the Moorer's camper on their property on Dec. 20th
  • Tammy allowed police to enter her home and the camper to view/photograph on Dec. 20th but claimed she didn't have a key for the black truck (brand new vehicles come with multiple keys, often two with remotes and one valet key; hard to believe she who ruled the roost would not have access to at least one of the spares)
  • Jacob (friend of the eldest Moorer son) testified to physical changes in the Moorer house between when he was there last and after when police photographed it (new drapes, furniture moved, Tammy's computer vanished from the "home-schooling room", the security camera monitor in the bedroom was gone etc.)
  • Jacob was present in the Moorer house when Tammy made a veiled comment about Heather in reference to Sidney's new (and only) tattoo, which seems to have been acquired under duress and as a punishment.

I would think if one is going to note a found item in a police report, it would be part of photographic evidence, because at that point, who can say what has significance?

Good point. I think it isn't the same brand, so the State is not bringing it up. The defense isn't bringing it up because they don't want the jury to think Heather was pregnant.

I'm not convinced it was the same pregnancy test. Heather would have had to go back to her apartment at some point to take the test after SM gave it to her.[/QUOTE
Too bad we don’t have the empty box to help us discern that. You know there is always the possibility that he was dropped off at her place at some point.

What's the significance of the Sams Club home camera purchase?
The young man testified the original system was gone? am I right?

I think I missed something.
And the text that was not allowed to be introduced said what?

They had a security system and bought a new one a few days after Heather went missing. Where did the old one go and why?

Yes. Significance of security system is they had one, tossed it and then bought a new one. Old one would show their movements the night they took Heather.

I don't know what the young man's text said.

This.

Also, someone asked and I didn't quote, the Ms were first approached by LE the night after Heather was reported missing. The first interview with SM at the end of his driveway at night, the interview on the dash cam was shown in his trial. IIRC

IMO

The only reason I'd think they wouldn't find the pregnancy test is it was + and HE put it in her purse to show someone as proof..

I suppose negative proof may have also been required, but the intent was still murder either way.

OR, it was positive. I've taken a lot of pregnancy tests in my day and only the negative ones got discarded.

Same. I was going to mention this earlier in the thread when someone mentioned an old test would be in the trash either way. The only ones that ended up in my trash were negative and I believe (IMO) that if Heather took that test in her apt and trashed it, the test would have been in the same trash with the box.

Was her purse found in her car or apt? I know I know this but my mind has really declined in the 4 years since we started this (thanks to kids, husband and job LOL). If it is missing, I'll add it to my burned/cement list and assume the test (whatever the results) was in it. If the purse is not missing, maybe she had it in her pocket?

I missed the whole day other than a quick scan of the threads when I got home and about 10 minutes this morning of the police testimony, and I won't have time yet to listen to the whole thing. Were there any revelations and I did see that am 'unused' bullet was in her car? Was there a line of questioning or any conclusions on that?

IMO, the defense is just not being successful when it comes to cross examining these State witnesses, and a lot of circumstantial evidence is really heaping up. From where I sit, and at this point in the trial, I'm really thinking that the State is proving their case. It should be interesting to see what the defense is going to do for their side of the trial.

Ford owner over here. That truck would have had a keyless entry I'd think. Tammy, why couldn't they look in the truck?

My Ford, like most, has a keypad on the driver's door in the event you find yourself locked out. Did this one not have that? Horrible admission, I always leave my keys in my car, locked inside my closed garage much to my DH's dismay b/c I use the keypad to get in instead of keeping up with my keys in my house. *shrug*
