GUILTY - Wayne Millard Murder Trial - Dellen Millard Charged With Murder - #5

How many appeals do these guys get? Surely they can't keep doing this.
There is always a chance Smich and Millard could appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada, but few cases make it that far.

Millard’s appeal of his conviction in his father’s first-degree murder has also been denied. A decision on Millard’s and Smich’s appeals of their convictions for Laura’s murder is expected June 15.

So for now — and maybe forever — they remain in prison. It is some reassurance, perhaps, that the system isn’t entirely broken.

Opinion | Maybe the system does work sometimes

Before the verdicts were all in, MS's lawyer indicated MS would likely seek leave to appeal to SCC:

While the decisions were still being reviewed, Litkowski said in a statement it was “very likely that leave to appeal to the (Supreme Court off Canada) will be sought” by Smich.

It was not immediately clear whether Millard planned to seek leave to appeal to the Supreme Court and his lawyer did not immediately return a request for comment.

As distasteful as it is, Smich's 2nd murder conviction probably should be appealed to the SCC. The bodies of evidence were so different for the two defendants in that case that perhaps trying them together for Laura's murder should be legally reviewed.

Millard and his cases however are all hopeless, and he should knock it off.

I can see why the families of the victims would be upset about this. Still, I wonder what difference it makes in the end that he moved? He's still locked up for life and as a serial killer, I can't see him ever being released. What advantage does a person get to be housed in medium security as opposed to maximum?
