The New Jersey Ivy League university says on Twitter police cordoned off Nassau Hall on Tuesday after public safety officials got a report of gunshots there. No injuries have been reported.

PRINCETON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Gunshots were reported Tuesday night at a building on the Princeton University campus.

The university Public Safety department reported the shots were fired at Nassau Hall, the oldest building on campus, according to KYW-TV, CBS 3 Phiadelphia.

Public Safety advised people to avoid the area surrounding Nassau Hall. The building was evacuated, CBS 2 confirmed.

Princeton Police say the incident is not confirmed at this time, and the building is currently being searched.

Officers closed the building just before 8 p.m. after a maintenance worker told police he thought he heard shots being fired, a law enforcement official said. Police took the call seriously out of an abundance of caution, but gave an all-clear about two hours later.
