Media circles have been abuzz with reports that the New York Times is working on an exposé involving Paterson's personal life and the hammer is about to come down

This has been brewing for awhile. Especially after the NY Post had the story about Patterson and some woman (not his wife) having dinner at a steakhouse and nuzzling each other a couple of weeks ago.

You're right. And it's not just politicians who don't think they'll get caught, it's cheating spouses in general.
