And many more to come, grant us the privilege.

What sort of things do you remember from your trick or treating days?

Happy Halloween hope everyone is having a great and safe night. I worry about children going door to door unsupervised on this holiday.

When I was a kid we roamed freely and got chased by wild dogs and wilder teens, the first after our haunches and the second after our sacks of sugary goods.

Never caught, hams intact and cavities to prove it!

Happy Halloween too to everyone!

I think most young kids that come to our door always have their parents or another adult with them which is wise.

The adults will either come up to the door with them or be standing back on the street and watching carefully.

Years ago things were so different and we were allowed to go trick or treating with other neighbor kids and no adults were ever with us.

We did have loads of fun and would come back with huge pillow sacks full of candy.

Nowadays the candy makers have colluded with other candy makers to make their packages so small. LOL :)
Gone are the days when you could fill up a pillow sack full of candy on halloween. The poor kids are lucky to fill up a small plastic pumpkin.

I guess it does help the parents dentist bill though. I sure have the fillings to show how it was years ago. :)

Snickers, Skittles and M&Ms packs are getting smaller – but it’s for your own good.

HAAAA!!! Happy Halloween all. One of best memories was in my teens. Too old to trick or treat so I was home with Mom and Dad. My Nephew was going thru a dog phase. He was around 2 or 3 and acted like a dog. Heads up was given he would come to the door dressed as a dog. Mom and Dad decided they would crouch and bark when he came to the door. Finally they spotted a little dog costume fast approaching our house. Down on their knees they went with their dog masks and began barking fast and furious. It wasn't their Grandson. That Parent couldn't scoop their child off the porch fast enough. I laughed for hours.

Extra credit: from which true crime tale does the band in the OP take its name?

Extra Milk Duds and Pixy Stix for the winners!

Happy Halloween all.
So many fun memories from my childhood. Growing up with less constraints and bigger candy bars. Even as an adult, I still love the parties. People can be so creative with costumes. Some worth mentioning: two people were a clothesline and had to stay close together all night; another time someone was dressed as a needle in a haystack and dropped pieces of straw all over the dance floor; hubby went out once as a crash test dummy. It is a fun holiday and as well my favorite time of year.
Enjoy the sweet moments fellow websleuthers.

LOL!!!! Hilarious!

One of my favorite memories is when my husband put onions and lemons mixed in with the bowl of candy we used to hand out to trick-or-treaters. He let the kids pick the candy they wanted - funny to see the expressions when they saw the onions and lemons mixed in with Snickers and Milky Ways. One little kid picked an onion! I'm sure his parents were baffled by that when the kid emptied his stash at home.

:)
