Has a mythical beast turned up in Texas?

The face looks like a pit bull to me with that jaw, but the gray color is wierd and so are the ears- they look like a bats, and it does have awfully long canines. My guess is a pit bull mutation.

It's one of the infamous Hounds of the Baskervilles.

I take offense at that. I have a Chinese Crested dog, and she is BEAUTIFUL!!!

How rude of you to say that.

Also, it is mean to say that a dog is ugly....they can't help how they look.
They are God's creatures.

If I knew how to insert an image, I'd show you her picture.
--well, this dog picture in Texas could be the ugliest dog I've ever seen, and I didn't think ANYTHING could be ugliier than a bulldog--boy, was I wrong--The grey color is most unsettling as well as the portruding teeth--It looks like there was an unusual mating event between a pit bull and a killer shrew--horrors

That same picture makes the paper about once every year, or so.

That's what I thought too. I KNOW I've seen this pic somewhere before.

Ummmm Its a DOG!

I can't even believe people are buying this crap.

First off .... the chupacabra is suppose to be a magical creature so killing it would not be possible.

Its just an ugly dog!

That's what my daughter said also, that's a dog. lol Gotta admit I agree with you and her. That is a dog...an ugly dog no less, but a dog.

Looks a little like a deformed, sheared sheep.

There has to be a logical explanation for this one. So...what is it?!

CUERO, Texas - Phylis Canion lived in Africa for four years. She's been a hunter all her life and has the mounted heads of a zebra and other exotic animals in her house to prove it.

But the roadkill she found last month outside her ranch was a new one even for her, worth putting in a freezer hidden from curious onlookers: Canion believes she may have the head of the mythical, bloodsucking chupacabra.

"It is one ugly creature," Canion said, holding the head of the mammal, which has big ears, large fanged teeth and grayish-blue, mostly hairless skin.

Canion and some of her neighbors discovered the 40-pound bodies of three of the animals over four days in July outside her ranch in Cuero, 80 miles southeast of San Antonio. Canion said she saved the head of the one she found so she can get to get to the bottom of its ancestry through DNA testing and then mount it for posterity.

She suspects, as have many rural denizens over the years, that a chupacabra may have killed as many as 26 of her chickens in the past couple of years.

"I've seen a lot of nasty stuff. I've never seen anything like this," she said.

I read this story to see if there was any explanation of why this woman is proud of killing a zebra and other "exotic" animals just so she can mount their heads in her home. To me that is the worst part of this story.

I read the thread title and thought it was a discussion of our beloved Jeana.

:waitasec:

But then I saw the photo! Everyone knows our Jeana is a great and statuesque beauty.

So my bad. :blushing:

The chupacabra evaporates into thin air when it dies, I thought everyone knew that, lol. This is just a dog marriage gone bad. They must have been related, lol. I showed my mom the pic and she said it looked like the things we saw in New Mexico on the side of the Highway dead. Of course I still think they were aliens in disguise. We were coming back from Roswell.

HEY!! I own bulldogs - French bulldogs!!!

And I totally agree - they're so ugly they're cute. But... this "thing" is simply just ugly and creepy.

Sorry didn't mean to insult you, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I seen the ugliest dog contest on Animal planet and a Chinese crested one, so that is where I seen it.

I agree, there's been a previous story about this weird critter some time ago. I'm gonna go look for it.......

Photo from the link of the Maine "Chucpacabra/Werewolf".

Loren Coleman, a Portland author and cryptozoologist, says the incident reminded him of a case years ago in northern Maine in which an animal shot by a hunter could not be identified. However, in the end, wildlife officials got a DNA analysis that showed the animal was a rare wolf-dog hybrid.
