No, The mistake that Cindy is probably mad at her self for was calling the police over the (stolen car). Had Casey told Cindy the truth we would not be here. They would have probably did everything in their power to cover up what she had done. I believe they have been covering for her for years. And they will continue to support her even though they know they will never see Caylee again.

No, my opinion hasn't changed. The tapes corroborate my thinking. I think Cindy loved Caylee very much and became deeply worried when she found out she had been missing for a month. It's clear from these tapes that it's impossible to get Casey to tell the truth, and the parents probably feel utterly helpless. When it all began unfolding, Cindy needed, and still needs, to believe that Casey couldn't have killed Caylee, and she was able to second guess her intuition and begin to hope that Caylee is still alive. And, as some of us have already speculated, another layer to this horrible situation that might be driving Cindy's hope deeper is the unthinkable possibility that Casey may have harmed Caylee as vengeance against Cindy. Few could probably face that possibiity until they absolutely had to. I still feel very sorry for Cindy and George, and all who loved Caylee.

Saffron, this is exactly how I feel! I feel horrible for the entire Anthony family.

There is only one person who has earned my rage and contempt and her name is Casey!

Casey is the liar and the theif and the murderer---not George, not Cindy, not Lee. I hope she sees the inside of a federal prison for the rest of her life.

I hope the Anthony's denial subsides so they can go through all the stages of their losses of Caylee and Casey.

I hope the Anthonys eventually accept what happened, honor Caylee's memory, and forgive Casey (for their own sakes), and move on with life.

I can't say how I would behave in their shoes. I have no idea how horrible their nightmare is. A thousand times worse than I can imagine I think. Especially considering they may be afraid the fight on father's day may have led to precious Caylee's death.

Their behavior right now is not normal and in my very strong opinion, due to unimaginable pain, fear, and stress. Dr. Bethany on NG called this "undoing" and said it was common in tramatized people. Undoing happens whan reality is so terrible and so unfaceable, that the subconcious works overtime trying to convince the conscious mind that the horrible thing didn't happen/isn't happening.

Only after the realization that Caylee was likely dead---It smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car!---did the denial and "undoing" begin kicking in.

But initially, they did call the police.
They did say they want to press charges for theft--before Casey told them Caylee was "kidnapped."
From Tony's apartment, Cindy did drive Casey straight to a police station---and when she realized it was closed, she immediately called the police.

For me, Dr. Bethany's explanation of the "undoing syndrome" totally and adequately explains the Anthony's behavior after that and even their rabid defense of Casey since then.

Are they in their right minds right now? Definitely not. But to me, there's a good reason. What Dr. Bethany said makes sense.

This whole day does not make sense, the retrieving of the car, it smells of a dead body, and Cindy did say she heard Lee talking to a crying Casey that her daughter had been kidnapped, that is why she frantically called 911....had Cindy waited a little longer to get LE involved GA,LA would have had more time to solidify their story. I do not think CA knew what happened initially, but after listening to the tapes...they have reinforced my belief the whole family knows the whole truth and nothing but the truth and I do not buy the DENIAL story any longer. They are protecting Casey at all cost.

Yes, my opinion has changed, although only slightly.

I hadn't noticed when I read the documents where LE says Cindy had been calling all day long, that Cindy, George, and Lee didn't believe Casey's lies.

The change in my opinion after reading that is that Cindy, George, and Lee's motivation for their denials in the face of all evidence to the contrary, is likely to be quite deliberate, perhaps because they don't want Casey to get the death penalty.

I haven't decided yet whether or not I'd fault them for that - I'm still trying to put myself in their shoes about it.

I should clarify that I already have believed for some time that their denials are deliberate and contrived, just haven't been completely sure why (and haven't been particularly concerned with why).

After hearing the tapes (which IMO where not anything new) I thought and have always thought that Casey had to have some preconceived notion about LE, and that to me, had to come from George being in LE, so the only thing different from hearing the tapes rather than reading them was, that I wonder what Georges opinion of LE has been over the years.

I never thought the grandparents had anything to do with Caylee going missing, or did I think either of them were part of a cover up. I didn't think Lee was because the first phone call when they didn't know they were going to be releasing them when he told her that he wasn't going to take her crap basically like his parents have taken for weeks..
I think that what I have been seeing all this time is denial..IMHO, I don't like their behavior at all, and still 100% feel that they owe Tim and his crew a huge apology. I feel though in my heart, that Tim would disagree with me, and say that these parents are enduring so much grief that he is not owed an apology.
I do believe they are starting to realize that Caylee is gone, and as bad as they have acted, I believe the pain will overwhelm them. I sincerely hope they arrest Casey and get her out of that house before C&G find out the truth..
Otherwise, we will never know what the evidence is, as I think George or Lee will really hurt her, possibly worse.

My feelings for them change on a daily basis. At times, I pity them and view them as victims. At other times, I'm furious and frustrated with them. Sometimes I think one or the other or both had something to do with disposal of the body or a cover up.

My opinion of Lee has changed dramatically. I now think he is a punk and I feel that he knows the whole story and even had something to do with helping KC after the fact. I hope that girlfriend of his runs and doesn't look back.

It seems to me that Cindy was in the dark and did NOT know when Caylee actuallly went missing. Cindy displays total honesty as to that.

The 911 call about the odor were Cindy's concern and total honesty speaking then.

The aftermath has turned into nightmares that set in AFTER those facts were totally digested.

Horrific protective behaviors have taken the stage by all concerned here.

My heart would be destroyed IF IF it were my daughter instead of Cindy's.

I don't see a lot of softness in Cindy, perhaps Caseys lies began as a young child to escape consequence. My own personal thought.

God help all of this family and bring them to do the right thing now for Caylee.

The main thing I'm saying that I see is the police are the bad guys. Cindy as much as said so when she said they wouldn't listen to Casey or let her talk. The Peterson's said LE focused solely on Scott because they needed to solve the case, etc. If they can blame LE for everything then Caylee's not dead and if she is Casey didn't do it.

KC lies, cheats, steals, and very possibly murders yet her parents think that instead of jail she should be in their home. RU KIDDING ME! Then they make her into a Britney Spears Lindsay Lohan type star by providing her with BODY GUARDS, PR FIRM, LAWYERS, A MEDIA BLITZ, A SPOKESMAN!!. All this costs money that the Spears and the Lohans of this world have not the A's. And for what to make the princess comfortable..Bring in hair and makeup, let do a autograph sesson in the front lawn.

I wouldnt donate a dime to any organization they are a part of or is helping them...

I'm not sure that it matters if they've heard the tapes, in that I think they are very familiar w/ the way Casey is. I wonder if their actions are a combination of denial about what has and could have happened and supporting Casey for the purpose of knowing she holds the key to where Caylee is (whether Caylee is dead or alive). In listening to the tapes and the experts on tv, it sounds like Casey will never be completely honest in regards to what she knows. But the Anthony's have lived w/ her her entire life and probably know if anyone can get the truth or some clue, they would be the ones to do it.

I just can't help but to think that they - on some level - feel that if by supporting Casey they have even a small chance of finding out more - they will do it. I bet in living w/ Casey for the past 22 years they have a pretty good idea of which tactics work better then others in getting through lies. Of course, that being said, I don't think they ever thought this would happen either.

I am interested to see if and how their behavior will change if she ultimately gets charged w/ something more serious.

the tapes did not change my personal opinion of the grandparents. It rather solidified the way I have been feeling since the very start.

It also speaks volumes to the level of pathological denial they are in. We must remember that the change in grandma came after the `911 calls Grandma completely changed. She went from wanting to see her daughter arrested to being her number one fan. This is called idealization and is a level two defense mechanism where Cindy is subconsciously choosing to believe that her daughter has more positive qualities than she actually has. Passive aggression and acting out are also level two defense mechanisms we have seen alot with the grandparents. Level one defense mechanisms like denial, delusional projection and distortion are almost always pathological and the person empolying them generally comes off as "crazy"..

An example of delusional projection would be George saying the body in my daughter's car is not my grandaughter. (delusion about external reality)

An example of distortion would be Cindy saying the smell in the car was from maggots and pizza and trash (distortion is reshaping of reality)

An example of denial would be Cindy saying her daughter did not harm her child (denial is refusing to accept any anxiety producing ideas that are an internal threat)

Sorry for the long post... but these grandparents are, as we say in my field, "organic" ..meaning....they need some psyche intervention like yesterday! Defense mechanisms are all fine and good... but if you are spending the better part of your life in level one defense mechanisms there will be profound and longterm effects psychologically and even physically. Also, in the grandparents case the pathogenicity of their denial has impeded, in my opinion, the resolution of this case. They and they alone could help find the real answers here.

Again, sorry for the length and all above is just a humble nurse opinion
