More resolve than ever.

've been hanging around the McStay threads. Not participating but reading the search warrants and the discussion. I'm particularily interested in how the cellphone pings are interpreted. In the McStay case the defendant's cellphone pinged at the gravesite only a few days after the family went missing.

How far away was the ping? Weren't they found in the desert?
Steven's pings and phone records have not been reported on yet, right?

  • #645
I'm not sure what you mean by how far away did the McStay defendant's phone ping. Lol. The search warrant says his phone pinged the tower closest to the gravesite. Of course, he will probably argue that he was visiting his sister a few miles away or driving past on the 15 fwy but coupled with all of the other circumstantial evidence, I don't think anyone will buy it.

It was comforting to read though that cellphone pings are in fact considered when attemping to establish or dismiss an alibi. The search warrants in the Capobianco case have not been released I think for obvious reasons but I'm sure they detail an indepth investigation. Steven C has not provided a public alibi for the late evening. And like the McStay case, the defendant has tripped himself up by giving a public interview.

Some tips for getting away with a crime: leave your cellphone at home and do not under any circumstance talk to the media.

Btw, let's not forget that at the last court date Steven's attorney was going to rest on his motion to have evidence dismissed. I thought to myself, "really... that's it?"

Also I noticed next on the dockett for that courtroom was a drug court graduation at 1:30pm. Presumably after lunch but my point is, it didn't seem as though they were giving his motions much time in court. Maybe two hours at the most and we started 20 mins late that day.

lol lol I'm not even sure I know what I meant. d'oh! I meant, for example, they were found in the desert. If the closest tower was 5 miles away a defense attorney could argue so what he was in that area visiting his sister. How successful have pings been in the court system? I'd have to research that.

Same here. That's the reason I'm watching the progression of the McStay case to just see how technical and liberal one can go in using a cellphone ping as evidence.

The participants in the McStay thread are extremely thorough. I'd hate to be on their radar!

I just wanted to add a reminder bubble for the Scott supporters that Steven was charged with arson in order to cover up his crime. An early article mentioned the police having the evidence to link Steven to the arson charge and Charli's murder (via her jawbone). I'm glad they arrested him quickly.

I'll find the article to link it.

Hmm, reading over last post... I do believe I was asleep when I wrote it. :p

Did they find soot in his bedroom?

  • #652
Can't believe how much ******** Charli's family put up with and how graceful Kimberlyn keeps being.

New evidence?
I feel like there's some subliminal messages going on here...or I've been on this site too long and read way into things too much! lol lol

Court resumes Friday. Just checking back in and sending aloha to Charli's family and friends. May justice be served.

  • #656
Just coming on to see if Friday is still a go. Remind me again, this hearing is for???
Good luck to Charli's friends and family and stay strong!

After heavy rains, sometimes there's a rainbow...rainbows and unicorns.

That was a recap on last month's hearing.
