Ok just to be Devils Advocate considering we have all but hanged SC. Say his story is true? Say the reason he sped up up in Haiku was because as he told me his alternator was dying and his truck was running on battery so time was of the essence. He needed to get the truck home. Thats the last he sees of her in his mirror. She on the other hand realizes she forgot her phone in Keanae. Turns back to retrieve it. Maybe even calls a "Friend"to go with her. Her level of fuel is hearsay. What is reasonable doubt?

Thank God people, and by people I mean a jury, have common sense. And common sense should rule over reasonable doubt in this scenario. : )

Yes, you are right. They don't fit, and they aren't from his usual pages that he follows. And I have read his whole Facebook going back to 2012 or more. And yes, needed a shower after.

That is very possible with this case.
I really don't want to be argumentative, but I think the Occam's Razor gets too much reliance as a sort of truth. Occam's Razor was originally a medieval scientific theory and although helpful at one time is not even useful in science today because as our knowledge grows, simplistic answers turn out less and less to be true. Human psychology can and often does seek tortuous convoluted routes. We often don't think in straight lines. We don't necessarily act in logical courses of action either. Simple explanations are only helpful if the situation was caused by a person or persons acting simply, efficiently, and so forth.

There are good stats that crimes like this are most often done by someone close to the victim, usually a lover past present or future, but I think that's true because more murders have a motive than are unmotivated and random, and the people closest and most entangled have the motives.

I'm more a fan of Jeeves the butler's approach: he believed in "studying the psychology of the individual." I wish I could find more information for understanding Steven. It's wonderful that a few of you know and have interacted with him. What would he have done, planned? Is he a planner? What kind of random unexpected events messed with him along the way? How did he adapt to them? Why didn't he get his lies firmly in place so they wouldn't fall apart almost right away? Is it because he didn't plan much in advance? Did he meet up with Charli to discuss the baby plan and become overwhelmed with all the anger he had seething in him, and went too far?

I don't read or watch in Tapatalk. I use full sites only, even on my phone. I like to get all the information.
The Youtube videos all have date stamps when they were posted, so they could have been shot at an earlier date, but they can't be shot later than the date they were posted, right? These family interviews were all put online very quickly because it was a "time is of the essence" situation with the search. Because of that, there are videos every day from Tuesday to Saturday of that first week, and you can see the whole thing unfold as it did in Feb. 2014.

As for finding out about the 5 PM quote, it would be easier for someone on Maui. It could be done. The question is did the officer testify those times, or did someone make a mistake in reporting? Maybe contact Maui News? I looked for other coverage and did not find any, so nothing to compare it to.
I guess the family is not commenting in any public posts. Perhaps not allowed to.
Otherwise we can wait until the 28th, but I sure would like to know.

I'm thinking he may have told the police officer 5:00 and that is what they are trying to suppress which is my speculation only. We are all speculating about this. Let's put this to the Occam's Razor test. Based on everything we know from published reports and quotes from the family, the easiest answer is the reporter got the time wrong. The answer will be interesting.

Let's ask this: why is 5 pm significant and how could that single statement be self incriminating?

Cops don't volunteer any information, they want to know what you know. "Do you know how fast you were going miss?"

Assuming 5 pm was given to Officer Natividad, SC wants that statement suppressed because he slipped up. He made up 5 pm to distance himself from the crime however only a few days later, he starts saying she came over at 8 pm. No wonder he failed the poly.

Why so many different timelines given by SC? Easy. He had no idea who she'd told she was headed to his place for the night. I really think that was his pretense, that she could spend the night. Given the clandestine nature of their relationship, he could count on Charli NOT telling her mom or sisters she was "going back to him" that evening but what about her friends? THEIR friends?

On the drive to Keanae, they're talking about baby, arguing maybe, her phone stays on and with her because she doesn't feel she's in any danger. Even if she got mad at him, she won't text anyone to complain because 1. She's not supposed to be with him in the first place and 2. There is no service.

11 yrs on Maui, she knew her text wasn't going through until she got to the point at Keanae.

I don't like to imagine the scenario when he finally pulled into Paraquats.

Anyway, I think he was telling the truth when he told Malika Lincoln that they talked about baby names on the drive. That conversation probably kept her in the car and at ease until he pulled over.

I believe the family when they say to SC that Charli loved him. Her love and trust may have been her doom.

I pray with conviction that Charli's feticide bill is passed, not that it'll stop anyone from killing but at least her murder would not have been in vain.

tested. Phone goes straight to voicemail. I also got a lecture from the person who tested it on how I should know this because I had just turned off the radio receiver in the phone when I put it in AM -- so it cannot ring.

I think rain and night moisture would destroy it, unless she had an otter box case. iPhones don't do well in wetness. Wrapped in plastic?

Something --What?--caused him to put himself into the picture, with his wild story, some time between Sunday and when he spoke to her sister and the officer that Tuesday morning. Was he seen or something That Night? Or Monday? And why does the Monday FB have even more (in my opinion, bogus) posts than Sunday? Needing to do some damage control?

From the Ladle has stated that someone thought they saw SC in Hana (or near Hana) Sun. Night but that he was in a different car (or words to that effect), so that could be another reason he placed himself there.

I don't know that the phone would have to be wrapped in anything other than a cell case. I dropped my iphone in the water while I was getting a pedicure, nothing happened. Dropped from a 2nd story; only a hairline crack that took me hours to notice. I have a thin shell case. I've been an iphone user for 6 years and I know there are better phones out there but I'm used to the Apple platform.

When the iphone is in airplane mode, it goes straight to voicemail but it's not the personal greeting. It's the "your call has been forwarded..." so no ringing, no notifications.

I'm not sure why the discussion of airplane mode is on the table, one would think if he was going to put the phone in airplane mode, why not just destroy it or stick it under Nala's collar. As morbid a thought as this is, maybe Charli lost her phone in the melee. Maybe she threw it at the last minute so her family would be able to find her. Could be SC completely forgot about her phone until he texted her that night (a text that may have been his attempt to find her phone!).

I'm with whoever posted the simple theory. My employees lie all the time about missing and broken equipment. It's usually the simplest reason and not some elaborate scheme.
