GUILTY HI - Ivanice 'Ivy' Harris, 28, pregnant, Waikiki, 16 May 2013

This post is in reference to post #20 and the incident I witnessed at the Ilikai hotel where I was staying this last week. It was this last Saturday, May 18th, 2013, around sunset. I was exiting the hotel on the south side that faces the beach and marina. I was heading out across the courtyard to venture down their ramp, toward the boardwalk entrance, a boardwalk encircles the lagoon that sits between the Ilikai and Hilton Hawaiian Village.

As I was walking out of the hotel lobby onto the courtyard, I noticed a semi-casually dressed Caucasian man, wearing a light blue, short-sleeved shirt, off white dress pants, wearing a bluetooth device in his left ear. He was in his early-to-mid 40's, medium build, and had slightly wavy hair with a tinge of grey. Because of the wave, it seemed combed back from the forehead. As I walked further out into the courtyard, he got my attention because he was sitting on the last of the six lounge chairs that face the beach and marina. His head was turned to the west in the direction of the ramp that leads down to the lagoon and beach. I noticed he was looking at something very intently and very focused upon what caught his attention.

As he was doing so, I turned and as I proceeded to walk toward the ramp, I then saw what he was looking at. Opposite me, was a beautiful black woman with her Caucasian companion. They were a very attractive couple walking toward me and I knew instantly the peculiar man was watching her. She had red hair, layered to her shoulders, and wore a sleeveless, dark green dress with a rustic covered leaf print, and lower part of the dress was very, very short, and wore matching dark green high heels. Even though it was short, it was still tasteful and fashionable. She carried herself like a model.

It was at that time as they walked past me, I had known about Ivy's disappearance from the day before when Honolulu Crimestoppers placed her photo and details the day earlier in the local newspaper. And since I knew what Ivy looked liked, I studied the woman as she walked by and saw that there was no resemblance to Ivy. As I continued across the courtyard to the ramp, I turned around and saw them walk away as the man in the lounge chair had his head turned all the way around, now looking at her with intensity as she and her companion walked into the Ilikai hotel lobby.

I then kept walking and venture around the lagoon on south side of the boardwalk to get some ice cream at the Dairy Queen beach storefront on the other side near the Hilton. 15 minutes later, I returned to the Ilikai the same way. As I walked up and over the ramp, I suddenly saw the peculiar lounge chair man now sitting on one the blue Ilikai benches under a large tree... the exact spot where I first noticed the female with her companion. The benches are broad front to back and rest up against the partition of the hotel exterior and he sat with his heels atop the bench as he rested arms across his knees. At this time he was talking to someone on his bluetooth device, well hidden under the tree, unnoticed until you walked by. It was like he was waiting for the female to come back.

Anyway, after I went back to my hotel room, I thought that the man seemed out of place and I do not think he was a hotel resident. This man seemed like a skillful, intellectual prowler and it was quite obvious he was seeking out women. I'm glad I'm making note of this because the same kind of situation must have happened with Ivy. Hopefully police will find video recordings or statements from local patrons in or around Kelly's pub that recorded the man she was talking to.

Who knows, it could have been the man I saw at the Ilikai.

I am very impressed by your attention to detail. I think it is awesome that you were paying attention to your surroundings. If the world only had more people like you....

I thought this was a strange coincidence. The article stated that Ivy was found in the brush along Farrington Hwy. I noticed that another incident took place also along the Farrington Hwy. back in April. A man who is being sought by police for attempted kidnapping and sexual assault. Here is the link to that story:http://traffic.outbrain.com/network/redir?key=d356c41d3b7e223a9755adca139f306d&rdid=534683672&type=IMD_d/RF_la&in-site=true&idx=3&req_id=a8bcc1897fd3c0cacc8ca3642616a8cd&agent=blog_JS_rec&recMode=7&reqType=1&wid=100&imgType=0&refPub=2797&prs=false&scp=false&origSrc=851465

Thanks... when something happens like this near me, my eagle eyes are on full patrol.

So very young. I hope that LE pursues vigorously. It seems like it would be harder in a tourist area. Though I don't think the perpetrator necessarily had to be a stranger.

Both were on Farrington Hwy but Waipahu is quite a ways from where Ivy was found on Yokohama Beach. The drive up on the Waianae side is pretty sketchy and the beach is near a dead end at the far north end of Farrington. The beach is gorgeous on that side however not far south of there use to be a huge tent city of homeless living on the beach. I think they did clean that area up unless they returned. If any of you watched Dog the Bounty Hunter he did a show from there and even he didn't want to be there at night.

Well, I found her backpage ad earlier today but websleuths seemed to be down when I went to post it and it's since been deleted. She advertises with a blonde woman.

I do feel like it's important to be honest about it, not to disparage her, but because the reality is that other women in her line of work on the island could be in danger.

Was the Backpage Ad of hers posted for Portland or Honolulu?

I agree. Whoever did this really took their time and dumped her far away from Honolulu. Sounds like someone who knew the highways and roads to get there. I know Schofield Barracks is inland and not too far away from where she was found. Could the 'perp' be military?

And now since she is dead, her boyfriend and her fellow girlfriends, and their island endeavors, will be investigated quite thoroughly.

Some thoughts:

If the guy was a client, wouldn't she have a room set up for this type of thing? Therefore, her "bf" would know where it was and they would have checked it out after not hearing from her. I can't see a soldier renting a room for this purpose...too expensive. A tourist could be by himself on vacation, but I don't think they go to the tourist's room.

Maybe she was buying drugs and there was an overdose. The guy had to get rid of the body.

On the Bring Ivy fb page, the admin mentioned that the guy's first name sounded Hispanic. How would they have gotten a first name? From texts between her and JG? It sounded like they did communicate until 3:45am.

Why did JG feel the need to tell the Star Advertiser that IH was an escort? Actually the latest article uses the word "prostitute." I guess the reporter could have asked and she didn't want to lie? It's one thing to wonder if IH was an escort and another thing for a friend to actually say it and then get upset that people are speaking negatively about IH.

I do hope that someone is held accountable for her death. And also hope that any of her friends who are involved in this same type of business get out.

Call it in--you never know.

Although my first thought is that he is a pimp keeping an eye on his girl.

Looked through the page and couldn't find that. But then again, I'm looking with tired eyes! The name must have been mentioned in the text conversation between them. It seems that this is going to be a case with more dark secrets to be revealed...

Another thing... how do we know that Ivy really left one hour ahead or even showed up at Kelley's? Perhaps the text messages and her phone were used as a deterrent to make it seem she was there when she really wasn't. Odd that there are no witness statements that confirm her being there and talking with a man that night during those early hours. This case is just strange since the very beginning.

Also, it could be possible that she was caught stealing from the perp and he did her in. The reason I mention this is from her police record stating forgery, identity, and conspiracy thefts.

I was wondering the same thing. I can see telling the police in order to find her, but i don't understand telling a reporter. Also, were Jill and Ivanice both dating the same guy? Looking at their FB pages, it seems like it. I think Jill has kids with him also.

Just a couple recent articles with info

They got a short text from her phone Thursday asking if they were OK, and that’s the last time her friends said they heard from her.

http://www.kitv.com/news/hawaii/fri...erson/-/8905354/20249176/-/h5ucb/-/index.html

Ivy Harris had worked as an escort for years, according to her brother.

"She was in the life, you know. That life. But I don't believe that Mark (her bf) did anything to her," said Ivan Harris.

Her brother suspects that she ran into trouble with a stranger.

"She was in a situation that she couldn't get out of," said Ivan Harris.

"You mean with a customer or client?" questioned the reporter.

"Exactly," Ivan Harris said.

Harris' friend Jillian Gibides said police called her Tuesday afternoon with the news.

"They wouldn't tell me very much," she said, crying. "It's so surreal."

Harris was last seen between 2 and 2:15 a.m. Thursday outside a pub in Waikiki near the corner of Lewers Street and Kalakaua Avenue, and was planning to meet someone at a hotel apartment, Gibides said.

Do you have to buy a subscription to read the rest of the story? I usually read Hawaii News Now but I thought the Star Advertiser use to be free.

Yeah, the SA articles are usually free. In this case, it looks like they are trying to gain subscriptions and money by not divulging the latest and important facts for free... facts that should be freely accessible to the public since there is a possible killer on the loose on Oahu. The media can be so sad and greedy sometimes.

I should have mentioned about the subscription. They're doing what many newspapers have done the past few years and I can't blame them because print readership has declined.

There are numerous hotel apartments along and around Kuhio Avenue, right up and around the corner from Kelley's. I cringe at the thought of her traveling within that area during the early morning hours.

Also, the Ilikai is an apartment hotel as well... as I was looking at some listed during my stay. But then again, hotel apartments are a dime a dozen in Honolulu.
