There seems to be a question about a business partner.

A search on the state Professional and Vocational License website shows the same license number (CT-29955) as his web page and lists him as the Sole Owner in good standing
https://pvl.ehawaii.gov/pvlsearch/info/CT-29955-0

However, if you search his business name, Jeff Meek Plumbing, on the state business name search, it shows it as a temporary name with the application received on Nov 19, 2014. The application was received after he went missing???? I don't get it.

Personally I wouldn't put too much into the date it was received. The form (?) could have been mailed, and sat on someones desk for a week or two before they processed it.

BUT, I would check it out for good measure, just to rule it out, did the signature match the other documents. I wonder if the police are aware of the form? If it was mailed, where was it mailed from? What's the postmark date?

Hmmmmmmm

Even if it was mailed recently, it seems odd that the application is filled out and then he disappears. He's been in business for years. It's also possible to apply online which, I assume, wouldn't require a signature. I would hope that LE is looking into it. It may mean nothing but who knows.

The more I think about it the more it creeps me out.

Also, I have been told that he was either running or was going to run for some kind of public office and it was turning contentious.

Here is a Youtube video that will give you a little better idea of what the area looks like. At the beginning of the video is the turn off from the highway down to where Jeff's property is and also where his boots were found. Across the street when they show the first Pepeekeo Sugar Mill sign is the road that leads to his property. I wish he would have panned over that direction but obviously that was not the purpose of this video. Then from that point, continuing down Sugar Mill Road, is the cul-de-sac dead end where you have to park to walk down to where the boots were found. At the gate you would walk immediately to your right and down to the ocean. This couple is reliving their past and so are walking farther down the gated road (Beach Road). At the ends are shots of the ocean and some of the cliffs behind these lots which you would pass in walking down the slope in the boot location. Had the boots been found at the edge of these cliffs, my thought would have been suicide. Finding them down the slope suggested going for a swim or someone placing them. These lots are cleared and mowed. Jeff's lot is much denser with much taller grass and weeds.

Note:
You can see from the drive from the mill to the ocean it is not that close. It isn't like he would have gotten his truck stuck and just stepped down to the water to "cools off".

I noticed that Jeff is the only employee listed. Is it possible that his wife would have needed to do something so that she could pay bills, sign checks, etc. This confuses me....

Maybe he uses subcontractors
There have been reports mentioning workers

Hello
Thanks to all who have posted here.
My name is Rubio. I live in California /San Juan Capistrano.
I knew Jeff well. I hung our with him almost everyday for about four years.
I considered him a good friend. Last I saw Jeff was about 2005 before he left to the big island.

There are many things that bother me about this case.

1) Jeff was comfortable in the water. I surfed with him almost everyday winter or summer. Big or small. Jeff liked to longboard but could ride a mid length. He surfed with no leash regardless of the size of waves.
Jeff knew about the water.

2) Jeff was kind and giving and would help those who needed it.
But Jeff was passion and had a wild streak. He could go off on people.
There were people that found Jeff scary.

3) Jeff could protect himself. In two different instances he got pissed in the water and got in hassles.
Jeff wouldn't back down. He didn't care who it was he would go after them. One guy he pro asked for three days. Jeff was no shrinking violet.

4) this makes me wonder about the way he just vanished. I find it hard to believe someone could just take Jeff. It would have to be a group. I have seen jeff bite people when he was on the Losing end. Near his truck and all his tools. Jeff would put up a fight.
I realize people change. I can only speak of the Jeff I knew.
But I know many people that would say " I wouldn't mess with Jeff"

5)he left here under strange circumstances. He stopped surfing. He would not show up to finish jobs.
I hardly saw him. I told him to return to surfing and go back to work. His answer was hawaii.
There he found himself again and changed again.
Jeff could make a decision and go make it happen. That's the way he was.

All of these things make me wonder.

As for Mary we all knew here name but only Jeff called her Mary Lou.

Jeff was a good friend who I think of often. He showed me all of the ins and out of my local beach Doheny. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I pray for Mary and his kids.
I don't think Jeff would have left them.
But things are never as good or as bad as they seem.

I miss my friend and hope that he is still alive.

Rubio

I am sorry Rubio
It is hard not knowing what has happened.

You mentioned that Jeff call his wife Mary Lou
Did everyone else call her Mary?

And how does she refer to herself?

Such good questions, Dushi!

I can maybe help clarify one thing you asked: Rubio said in his post that: "As for Mary we all knew here name but only Jeff called her Mary Lou."

I think that's an extra "e" on the end of "her" and he means to say that they all knew her name as Mary and that only Jeff called her Mary Lou.

As for how she referred to herself, - that's a good question but my guess is that Rubio won't know that, from what he explains in his post. IMO.

We don't know if responding texts were deleted
But the final word on the text was Mary

Thanks for sharing, Rubio. I was wondering if you could clarify one thing that you wrote.
" One guy he pro asked for three days. "

He may have changed his attire to cowboy style but from what I have heard from his friends he still is a scrappy little guy which may have angered someone. Just a wild guess on my part but I think his disappearance stemmed from one or both of these two things: anger over a business deal and/or money.

We all mostly call her Mary. Rubio is saying what I thought. Surfer. Water polo in high school. But one of my daughters say that he got some sort of viral infection from the water when he first got to Hawaii and developed a sensitivity. but in huntington beach, he was a boardshorts and flip flops guy. the cowboy gear trips me out.

mary. she calls herself mary whenever she was around me. Jeff is very hard headed. He never looked for trouble, but it would find him. He was an ex cop in Los Angeles andhe was very capable of protecting himself. I think if someone came up to him and he sensed danger, we would see blood and evidence of a struggle. I think dav7070 would agree. To be quite honest, I don't think he's with us anymnore and it shocks and breaks my heart. Furthermore, whomever walked up to him on that property he knew and didnt have cause to suspect trouble. AND NO....ITS NOT THE NEPHEW.
