HI HI - Jeffrey Meek, 43, Keaau, 8 November 2014

Yep, you pretty much spelled out much of what I've been thinking, Dushi. We're missing a lot of the beginning and middle parts of this narrative, and by that I just mean basic facts. I can't figure out if that's due to the media (not pinning down specifics when interviewing or the editing of their news pieces) or if LE is ensuring certain info is held back.

Do we know how far away that property is from Jeff's house (?) -- because it really puzzled me when the nephew said he thought Jeff would "turn up in the morning" (maybe I got that wrong; I'll go listen to the clip again). And the nephew never tried to call Jeff OR Mary, when he got to the scene, right? I guess not, as it appears Mary wasn't alarmed until around Noon, when the Mom called. Maybe this would make more sense if it was put in context with the call to the nephew. Not knowing if he talked to the nephew "live" or what was said ("live" or on voicemail) is kind of a big deal, in terms of us understanding this. Because it's really hard to know what the last solid fact is. The text sounds bogus, but in context, it may not be...again, :gaah:

The Mom is thinking/acting/reacting in a way that makes total sense to me.

***re: news clip info: nephew did say something about figuring Jeff would "show up in the morning," but the news piece is obviously edited (and you can tell it is specifically sliced when the nephew is talking), so again, put in context, this may make more sense. And "show up in the morning" may just have been the nephew's way of saying he'd see him the next day. Hard to know, with no explanations.

Nobody is telling the story!
If it were my family, you couldn't shut me up... but that is just me

I guess with the lack of information I am just picking things apart, grasping at straws

The woman,in the video said she knew something was wrong when Jeff didn't show up for church

I am wondering if that is the first she knew of him missing?

Otherwise, my question would be why didn't she know something was wrong when he didn't come back to his family that night?
Did he stay away from home at times?

I don't believe that I am allowed to link, so I am not going to, but around 3 AM Hawaii time today (Dec. 2nd), Jeff's mom posted on her FB page, sounding as though she knows for certain that he has passed. I am paraphrasing here because I don't think I am allowed to quote from a FB post, either: She questions whether she will ever recover from losing Jeff and talks about his legacy, how much he cared about his children, as well as her exasperation over the lack of information as to his fate. She also writes about how her heart aches for Marylou. More than ever, I believe that the authorities know much more than they are letting on and that there is a lot taking place behind the scenes. My heart absolutely breaks for Jeff's mom. On top of this nightmare that she has had to endure, her younger brother apparently passed away just a few days ago. I don't know what I would do if I were in her shoes; she is one tough lady. I just hope that she can bring Jeff home sooner rather than later ....

Thank you for sharing this
I don't have a link to her FB

It seems she feels certain, more than just a Moms intuition.
I wonder what LE has shared with her?
I really hope that if this is in fact true , that his family can find answers

I will keep checking and posting here.
I can't let it go yet
There is some one out that that can solve this mystery
DO THE RIGHT THING

Although we can't discuss FB comments, here's a news link with a man's comment at the bottom, regarding his observations at seeing Meeks the day before he went missing (when the link comes up, scroll to the bottom to see the comment listed under "Post a Comment Via Facebook") -- the man puts his name to his comment, which I think lends some credibility...it's just a snapshot of Meeks the day before he went missing and this one man's take at that time, but FWIW):

Do you have the FB link?

I can't see any comments either. But maybe you have to be a Facebook member. I'm not and not going to join. The whole thing sounds fishy to me. If I went to get Jeff I sure wouldn't leave him 20 miles from home and just figure he will turn up ..??
Weird.
But the nephew is above reproach. (A good Christian )
( they never commit crimes)
Someone isn't telling the "whole story".
I feel for all of them.
But now I figure the only outcome is not good ...

With the lack of any information coming out I know I keep repeating the same opinions/thoughts:gaah:
In almost every case I have followed, there is information about things going on in the life of the missing person.. what they did that week or what they were planning on doing
In this case , other than the fact he was to meet Mary at the beach and go to church on Sunday, I have heard nothing much about Jeff's days and hours before disappearing.

Was there something going on in his life that could lead to his disappearance, either at the hands of a friend or stranger, or something that would make him decide to get away from everything?
Was he stressed? scared? Tired?
Wouldn't a cowboy hat float?

I completely agree with your post
Whitewashing never helps solve a mystery JMO

I completely agree with that. There is nothing that tells us Jeff's state if mind.
When Jeff left here things fell apart quickly.
Mary took six months off school. Then their lives fell apart. Looked to me as if they were smoking meth. They never slept. The house was a wreck. Jeff was tossed off the weber team because the team captain saw him smoking a pipe.
They denied it accused us a of. "Having it in for them"
All I know is they both turned thin and gaunt.
Whatever they were doing it wasn't good. Of course as Jeff's friend I always thought it was a road Mary had led him down.
I stopped hangin out with them. Of course that was easy. We surfed together and they didn't surf anymore.
The "jungle drums" (things you hear in the water)
Said Jeff had cleaned up after they left but Mary still had troubles.
After I had heard she had a kid I figured she had got clean too
Jeff couldn't run his business here. People were constantly looking for him asking me if I had seen him. So I figure with his business booming. That makes him clean. But Mary ... ??
The world is full of crack babies.
I know the truth is rarely told when drugs are involved.

All these things make me wonder. About all those people " around" sayin little to nothing.

I'm just telling it how it was.
I have know idea how things are now. They were heading down a bad road.
I just want to surf.

I took a turn off. I want the truth. They told me lies.

That's what I see here.

Soooooooo.....

there are only a few scenarios here

1. Accident
2. Foul Play
3. Left intentionally

Really so little to go on

unless Jeff fell into the ocean, wouldn't something have surfaced?

If he intended to disappear, why call his nephew for help?

JMO, Just a feeling.. But I can't get away from something criminal happening

I read somewhere that dogs were brought in
Did they not pick up any scent at all?
Is that not unusual?

  • #197
If they used the truck as a starting point, wouldn't the dogs at least lead them in a direction?

I am not a FB member and I can see the comment. To paraphrase, a gentleman commented that he saw Jeff the day prior and that Jeff looked thin and sad. paraphrasing.

EXACTLY!!! Why isnt his wife on this site filling in some of the blanks!!! I am telling you if my wife disappeared I would be taking every avenue possible to find her, including scouring the internet for any clues. I would have found this site and commented. I cant believe she would not do that. I dont understand. But that does not make a person guilty, just different from what I feel I would do.
