Hello All, I am an old high school friend of Jeff's. This all has had me terribly sad for 4 years now. Jeff would be out of Los Altos for 30 years now. Early on in this thread people were talking about Jeff's temper and other traits of his. When I first met Jeff, he was a goofball, then he discovered "pot" he was stoned so much of the time, it was a surprise when he was sober. He went from being a goofball, to exocentric, to down right scary. But if you were part of his "inner circle" he would give you the shirt off his back, and not think twice about it. He was a very nice guy, and no matter what faults he did or did not have, he did not deserve what happened to him. I know he is still "missing" but we all know that he is most likely gone.

I'm not sure if anyone here other then his family, knows that his mother passed away 2 years ago....

I wish we knew what happened to him. Lots of questions, but no answers, so sad and so wrong

I am saddened to learn that his mother passed away in 2016. She was a nice lady. I wish she had taken my advice and joined this forum so she could have provided clues we could work with. Does anyone have an update on Mary, Jeff's widow?

The wife of a Puna man who vanished almost 5 1/2 years ago has filed a civil court petition requesting her husband be declared dead.

The petition was filed March 13 in Hilo Circuit Court by Honolulu attorney Robert Holland on behalf of Marylou Meek, wife of Jeffrey Everett Meek, who went missing on Nov. 8, 2014.

I'm Jeff Meek's eldest daughter. We still haven't found anything conclusive obviously but i'm going to go through this thread to see what's the speculation.

I found out today from a phone call from someone who was friends with my dad that Marylou had an extramarital relationship and that they were arguing about something that night.

Looking to see if anyone had heard of it? It was a younger, college-aged man.

i know she was pregnant at the time and i don't want to cast aspersion but Mary and Jeffs children stand to inherit large sums of money. If there was a question in paternity that i'm thinking could lead to an increase in fighting and a suicidal or distracted Dad.

Whatever was eating at him must have been bad if he didn't notice people stealing from him.

Never stopped wondering what happened to your father.

As to this revelation, I am not surprised. I am saddened and even somewhat angered by it, but as a neutral third party, I am also relieved that this is now “out in the open,” (please know, though, that I do recognize that this is your father, a family member, and thus is different for you and your loved ones in that sense) so to speak. I hope the police are investigating thoroughly. I have a feeling there will be a break in the case soon. I really do.

So glad to have a VI here. I'm so sorry for what you're going through with your dad still missing. I've been following this story for years, and I'm glad to see if getting renewed attention! Sure would be interesting to learn the paternity of the second child.

I'm still interested. I was a member of one of the search parties and attended Jeffrey's memorial service. Although I'm no longer a resident of HI, I still hope for a conclusion to this mystery.
Jeffrey's former bishop told me that he had "disappeared" once before. This revelation about alleged adultery makes the possibility of voluntary fleeing a little more credible, but the circumstances--abandoned truck, not telling his mother, etc.--still don't make sense.

According to property records, the lot was bought for $300,000 on May 5, 2014.

Property was bought in 5/2014 for $300,000. After Jeff's 2nd wife, Mary inherited the property she sold for $250,000 in 3/2019. Surprised to see that in the height of the market the property was worth less that paid for in 2014. Sad because Sandra's intent was his children to enjoy the property to remember their father by.

There was a memorial luncheon for Jeff June 6 at his church. I don't think his family would have a memorial for him if they thought he was still alive. His mother had hired a PI and, IMO, rumors...gossip etc might have come into play for their belief that he is gone. Unless someone talks, I don't think this case will ever be solved.

Agreed, why have a memorial for someone that could be still alive and the disappearance was still being investigated unless the private investigator turned up something. Or unless you know what might have happened to him. Also why would you not inform his next of kin that there was going to be a memorial or wait until a death certificate could be issued.
I called to get a copy of the police report and found out no one had ever asked for a copy. I could not get a copy because I am not the next of kin. If this was my son I would want a copy of the police report. All is strange for sure.

Jeff's wife moved in with Sandra Meek in her home in Hacienda Heights, CA after her son was born in 2015. Approx. a year later Sandra passed away in 2016. Turned out Sandra quit taking her chemo medications and succumbed to cancer. Family found full bottles of medications, untouched. When the family was turning over the meds for accounting and then to be destroyed, Mary grabbed the bag and drove away with all the medications. I know this because I was the person that found the meds and bagged them up and left them in the kitchen to get my purse and returned to see that Mary had taken the bag and now driving away with the medication. She ignored our phone calls to return. This was witnessed by others so it is not hearsay. After Sandra's passing in Sept of 2016 we were notified that Sandra revised her trust the month prior, now to include Mary as inheritor of a large portion or her estate including the HI land. Once receiving the Pepeekeo land transferred she readily sold it in 2019 for less than Sandra paid for it in 2014. It would have been nice for his son to have inherited that land one day and keep that connection there since he was born in HI. Mary has changed her phone number and the family has not had any real contact with her since Sandra's funeral or encouraged to be included the Jeff's sons life. We hope when he is an adult we will be able to regain a bond. To date the only family connection is through her attorney when they make a new demand of the Trustee. The Trustee can not bear the bullying and has notified the family that they are retiring. For the past two years Mary has been petitioning through the courts to be assigned as the Successor Trustee of the balance of Sandra's trust and has blocked Sandra's granddaughters from being assigned as the current Trustees. This the only update I have for you on Mary. I wish we had more about Jeff's last hours.

I am so sorry you have been going through this and for so long. This is horrific. And we haven’t even found Jeff. What a nightmare. Have the authorities made any progress (if you can talk about; if you can’t, I understand completely)?
