Details of Disappearance:
Goodwin was last seen on Oct. 13, 2016 hiking with a friend in the area of mile marker 41 in Kīpahulu. He was on shore about to swim across a cove to meet his friend approximately 200 yards away off shore, but the tide was high and the seas were rough. His friend took a different path, but when he turned around, Goodwin was no longer there.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Navy, Maui Fire Department and Maui Police Department were involved in the search of over 1,950 square miles using helicopters, marker buoys, boats and dive crews. Efforts to locate Goodwin were unsuccessful and the search was called off on Oct. 19. His current whereabouts are unknown.
