Pfc. Johnson doesn’t have a civilian attorney who could provide a comment on his behalf, an Army Office of Special Trial Counsel spokesperson told McClatchy News. He’s being represented by military defense counsel.

The family plans to attend his arraignment, she [Mischa's sister] told the outlet.

On February 12, 2025, the U.S. Army issued a press release, detailing the referred charges against Johnson. In addition to the murder, killing, and child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges, he was also charged with obstruction of justice and providing false official statements.

According to Law & Crime, Johnson was arrested back on August 2, 2024. He was placed in military pretrial confinement and has remained confined ever since. His wife, Mischa, was last seen on July 31, 2024, at her Oahu home. Months later, he was reported missing, leading to Johnson's arrest the following day.

How are military wife murders being handled?

There is concurrent jurisdiction for all crimes committed within the State that can be characterized as a State crime. ... The military and the civilian authorities have a liaison office. They work closely with one another to decide jurisdictional. ... In this case, there is concurrent jurisdiction and both jurisdictions may prosecute Johnson for the charges. As he is an active duty service member, Johnson can face court martial and criminal murder charges for the same offense.

Q. Are military service members entitled to a jury of their peers and who selects them?

The military justice system does not have a “trial by a jury of your peers”. Instead, military court-martial use a “court member panel” that is appointed by the accused’s commanding general. The panel is made up of commissioned officers and enlisted service members, and the number of people on the panel can vary. Panel members must be senior in rank to the accused, except in cases where it is impractical to do so. Unlike trials in civilian courts, the jury verdict in military court-martial is not required to reach a unanimous verdict in order to convict, unless it’s a death penalty case.

According to this article (original source The Frederick News-Post, Md.) DJ will have the right to select the forum of his trial with his choice of:
1) a trial before officer panel members
2) a trial before officer and enlisted panel members
3) a trial before a military judge alone

I don't know why but this irks me.

And afaik Mischa is still missing ?

Can’t imagine he would negotiate a plea without revealing where Mischa’s body is, or if not recoverable- what he did with her.

Glad to hear her family will have answers at the very least.

Maybe he did? We don't know yet, I'm hoping for the best...
Yes, maybe !
I will hope along with you.

This beautiful young lady must have been excited to be a mom -- even if he left her --- she didn't get that chance.... or let alone to live her life.
Don't know if I'd posted this before... Rest in gentle peace, Mischa and little unborn baby. 😭
Imo.

Mischa Johnson's mother Frances Tapiz Andrian told Island News on Thursday, "I'm still processing every detail. I don't have my daughter and I hope one day we can bury her”.

So the family still doesn’t know the details of the plea? Or does she simply mean LE hasn’t found Mischa yet?

Her sister is currently live on Instagram with Always Always support local and they are saying details
He is pleading guilty to the lesser charges
Of course he is, not such a tough guy now eh? Infuriating that they would even offer him a plea that didn’t include giving up her body / what happened to her AND making sure it checked out before finalizing the deal.

Mischa’s mom said she was still processing every detail. So she was likely told what he said happened. How they determine whether it’s truthful will be interesting to hear.

It may be that her body is somewhere like a landfill and recovery may not be possible. Just some thoughts after I had a chance to ponder …
