I'd like to post them too ❤️

His father, Vincent Mina, told CNN that he positively identified his son's body Wednesday morning.

"We are so very sorry that Kekai has passed from this realm, he meant the world to us as a son, brother and friend," the family said in a statement.

"We find solace that he was found, and ask all those that extended their hearts and love to Kekai and to us, that you pause, and take a moment to love and hold those that are dear to you a moment longer than you would normally do."

I did not know Noah Mina but outdoor adventures always speak to me. We all step foot on a trail for different reasons. The family released statement was beautiful.

I would like to leave this poem here for Noah.

How I go to the woods

Ordinarily, I go to the woods alone, with not a single
friend, for they are all smilers and talkers and therefore
unsuitable.

I don’t really want to be witnessed talking to the catbirds
or hugging the old black oak tree. I have my way of
praying, as you no doubt have yours.

Besides, when I am alone I can become invisible. I can sit
on the top of a dune as motionless as an uprise of weeds,
until the foxes run by unconcerned. I can hear the almost
unhearable sound of the roses singing.

If you have ever gone to the woods with me, I must love
you very much.”

Snips from the beautiful article written on Kekai.

Noah ‘Kekai’ Mina, subject of search in West Maui Mountains, loved outdoors from an early age, says his family

IAO VALLEY — Even at 4 years old, Noah “Kekai” Mina loved nature and was physically fit, trekking 20 miles through Haleakala Crater with his parents and a backpack filled with He-Man and G.I. Joe toys.

Because he couldn’t get traction, Vincent and Irene Mina used two bamboo poles to help them walk together in the crater, with their young son in the middle, mother in the back and father in the front. The family took breaks along the way, but little Kekai walked most of the crater.

“I couldn’t believe that boy,” recalled Irene Mina, who reflected on the 35 years of her son’s life after his body was found Wednesday morning by a private helicopter 400 feet below a steep ridge in the West Maui Mountains.

“He loved to be outdoors,” she said Thursday morning at the base camp in Iao Valley where family, friends and volunteers met while searching for Kekai Mina, who was reported missing on May 20 after leaving for the Kapilau Ridge Trail area, also known as St. Anthony Cross.

“He would come out to Iao all the time, get into the river. He couldn’t be stuck working a 9-to-5 job,” Irene Mina said. “He goes by the dance of his own tune. (But) he’s very hardworking.”

“He wouldn’t deviate; he would go to task and he would follow through and do it and do it to the best of his ability. I would rely on him,” Vincent Mina said, referring to the times when he and his wife would handle Hawaiian Farmers Union United duties while their son took care of the farm.

But the 35-year-old’s life changed, his parents said, when he began having high fevers beginning in March. His kidneys were stressed and he also suffered from psychosis. The family said the issues resulted from a mix of over-the-counter supplements.
