Deceased/Not Found HI - Peter 'Peter Boy' Kema, 6, Honolulu, 11 Sept 1997 *P. & J. Kema guilty*

I think family members on the maternal side willing to give a dna sample would work. His older sisters, if they can be found. It's better to have several family members submit so hopefully someone will. I can't believe extended family members would also refuse to submit dna. I pray that is not the case for Peter boy.

I thought that his siblings wanted him to be found?

Maybe I'm just used to incompetent police (my apologies, I know most try their hardest), are we SURE that they even contacted them and told them it was possible? And also that if you willingly supply your DNA to CODIS to find a missing person it won't link you to a crime you've possibly committed.

Should we try to find his siblings and just ask them ourselves? I just find it so hard to believe that they wouldn't want justice for their brother..

I have a family member of peterboy as a fb friend. A maternal uncle.
Do you think that would work? If he was willing?

I've got some "real life" stuff going on and haven't had time to respond properly, just want to quickly express my gratitude for the wonderful posts recently by EVERYONE on this board! I am so hopeful and can't wait to dedicate some real time and effort here in the very near future. THANK YOU, wonderful people, for not letting Peter be forgotten.

I've dropped an email to the police department about the same match as well, I'll see if I get a better reply than "the family refuse to give a DNA sample." Of course the parents would refuse, they know the DNA would be used to match to a body and put them both in prison!

Peterboy had a large family. Hawaii culture is all about extended family. The abuse intensified when the father was able to isolate. There were many, many people who cared about peterboy in life, and would be eager to help, in death. His maternal family is invested in his story, he also has siblings who may be adults by now.

This case just breaks my heart. Thinking of Peter Boy.

Under Senate Proposal, Parents Could be Prosecuted for Unreported Missing Children
Thursday, February 13th, 2014
In one of Hawaii's most notorious missing person cases, Peter "Peter Boy" Kema Jr. vanished on September 11, 1997, on Hawaii Island at the age of 6, but his mother, Jaylin Kema, didn’t report him missing until January 1998.
Under a proposal pending in the Senate, Jaylin and Peter Boy's father, Peter Kema Sr., could be charged with felony for not reporting the death or disappearance of their child within 48 hours.
Peter Kema Sr. told police he took his son during the summer of 1997 to Aunty Rose Makuakane, a family friend he claimed lived on Oahu. Police could not confirm the woman existed or that the father was telling the truth.
There are dozens of children in Hawaii who go missing every year. The Department of Human Services web site features 71 missing children, including Peter Boy.
On Thursday, the state Senate will hear Senate Bill 2160, named Caylee’s Law after Caylee Anthony, which would make it a felony if a parent or guardian does not report the death or disappearance for more than 48 hours of a child.

Peter Boy has been missing 17 years today.

In 1997, the Hilo boy went missing. His body was never found. But now, in an exclusive interview, prosecutors and police tell Hawaii News Now they have new evidence, new leads, and new hope that this case could see the inside of a courtroom.

“We're working closely with the prosecutor's office,” says Lt. Gregory Esteban of the Hawaii Police Department, “We're tying up some loose ends.”

Peter has been missing for 18 years now. Hoping investigators are getting closer to making an arrest.

"Peter Boy Kema's sister says she saw his lifeless body in a box"

Lina remembers the last day she saw her brother alive. She was taking a nap inside the house. The rest of the children were outside.

“That's why i woke up, the door was swinging open," she says, “My mom (was) running in the house, and then my dad right after her, and in my mom's arms, was Peter Boy. I didn't know what was going on.”

Lina says the door to the bedroom was slightly open so she could see what her parents were doing.

“At the time I seen my mom. It looked like she was trying to kiss him and then, I saw my dad trying to beat on his chest. I opened the door more, cause the door was cracked, and they just yelled at me to go back to sleep."

Lina looked in her parents' closet, “I came out and I told them, Peter Boy's in a box, he's playing hide-and-seek,”

She says her parents told her to leave him there. She tells me she thought he was sleeping, “He didn't move."

More allegations against Peter's father.

Hawaii County Police are investigating yet another case involving Peter and Jaylin Kema, the parents of missing 6-year old "Peter Boy."

Sources say a relative has come forward accusing Peter Kema Sr. of raping her more than a decade ago, when she was just 11 years old.

The relative says she would sleep over at the Kema's home and that one night, he sexually assaulted her. The victim told police that Jaylin Kema was there, but allegedly she did nothing to stop the attack.

An arrest could be coming soon in the disappearance of Peter Boy Kema. Eighteen years after the little boy vanished, investigators are speaking out saying they are very close to charging someone in the case.

When asked about the case, Damerville said, "I would say we're rapidly getting to a point of a charge in this case."
