LIHUE, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Rescue crews have called off the search for an Ohio man who was reported missing Sunday.
Authorities said 58-year-old Vladimir Sukhoparov was last seen going on a run, but he may have gone swimming since some of his belongings were found on the beach near the Kauai Beach Resort.
U.S. Coast Guard and Kauai Fire Department crews were conducting the search, but after days of no success, it was called off Wednesday.
A grief counselor is assisting Sukhoparov’s family.

Conditions at the time he went missing were reported as 11 mph winds and seas up to 12 feet.
