This is an interesting story-the farmers' law suit has been slogging along for 9 years. The accusation is that the Dept of Agriculture was slow or reluctant to provide loans to minority farmers, but that white farmers received assistance with no difficulty. A similar lawsuit on behalf of black farmers just reached a ONE BILLION dollar settlement.
In the meantime, the farmers are hired to work land they previously owned because they were unable to keep their farms.
