Perhaps the rest were all asleep and he's gone off on his own with no semi awake friend to try and stop him and he's been disoriented and just started running IMOOkay, so take your beer bottle, grab a cig, head out to smoke, I see this happening even without grabbing his cell...."I'll be right back"...What happened between the elevator and smoke time? MOO
The only other option is that he was going to meet someone that he'd met a few hours prior. But then would you really do that on your first night in a presumably strange town and without your phone and wallet.
I'm not a jogger or runner, but to me that does not necessarily look like the exercise type of running. More the hurrying type.
That's a possibility too. His phone might have been charging as well. I hope that there's more CCTV images of him however if there is,why haven't they shown them to jog people's memories? Surely he can't have gone completely out of range after that one. I hope the police and his friends know something more than we know about his movements prior to that morning that might help. My heart goes out to his family and friends.I mean, it is a possibility - or maybe he just wanted to go somewhere, a shop perhaps? I am wondering if he was running to catch a train since he was going in the direction of the Amstel trainstation. He left his wallet in the hotel, but did he and his friend maybe buy ov-chip cards the day before? These are plastic cards that you can use in all public transport, and you put money on it before you travel. If he had a card like that with him, he could go anywhere.
Family of Scot missing in Amsterdam make TV appeal
This. The posture and body language in both of the videos combined with having left everything behind in the hotel room strongly suggests multiple substance intoxication to me or possibly lack of medication for existing medical condition. He looks so different in the elevator picture compared to the smiling head on photos. I appreciate the lights and angles in elevator CCTV don't do him any favours but I would not recognize them as the same person!
I'm not sure if that will ever be explained. The only people that could throw any light on it would be the people in the flat. Maybe he just ran out the flat and the rest were still sleeping? IMOPlasje aan waterkant waarschijnlijk fataal voor Schotse Matthew
One of the national newspapers claims to have information from a police spokesperson, who says that the police assume that Matthew fell into the water after making a wrong move while relieving himself. The police have never considered foul play nor suicide during the investigation. There is no comment on why Matthew was seen running/jogging through town before he disappeared.
