Thanks for the updates on Fletcher Long. Wow So how will this judgement affect Holly's case? More delays I'm guessing.

For starters, JA needs a new defense atty, because this one is not going to be eligible to handle the case.

This case is a hot mess. The Bobo family must be devastated and disgusted.

Long and Gasaway will get a license hearing after their sentencing for extortion

Not in the clear yet. Thanks, btw & Thanks DGC for posting about FL.

Since the announcement that Fletcher Long would be JA's attorney, I always wondered if Fletch would be in prison before JA. His license isn't in the clear as there's been no sentencing yet. Not sure if the sentencing date has been posted. A license hearing hasn't even happened.

Gosh these reporters are flavoring their stories. If only one side is speaking up, defense, that doesn't make it true in court. They always throw out what might stick to cause reasonable doubt. Always. I'm reminded of Johnny Cochran, Gerogos, Baez, Cheney Mason, Nurmi, Willmott & so on.

Last I read, Fletcher also has another charge along with another attorney in his law firm for sexual harrassment in his office, unless it was settled out of court. His previous deeds are online though.

I'm pretty sure by the time Holly's case gets to trial, Fletch will be not be practicing law. If he is, it will be a cold day... before I go visit TN again. At least he admitted he needs to get out of law.

This has been a major hold up in Holly's trial no matter what the defense attorneys have slung. It was predicted and it's becoming a fact now. jmo :D

If I was a member of the Bobo Family, I would ask that this trial be moved to another state. I'm so disappointed with all the goings-on in TN. From the local LE to the TBI to the Judges and Attorneys, this is one big hot mess. I don't trust anyone.

Can justice be had?

Despite felony conviction, past discipline, attorneys' licenses not suspended

:seeya: Thanks, jggordo, for this link !

Snippets from the article above:

Both of them [Long and Gasaway] were also disciplined five times prior to that felony conviction, but none of that was enough for the Board of Professional Responsibility to suspend their licenses.

The Board of Professional Responsibility, which controls the licensing of lawyers, censured Long three times for ethical misconduct and fee issues.

Gasaway was disciplined twice, also for fee issues.

Long is currently in the middle of the Holly Bobo case.

The felony extortion conviction carries a minimum of four years in jail.

Long and Gasaway will get a license hearing after their sentencing for extortion.

I wonder how long it will be before they are sentenced -- or -- will they appeal the felony extortion conviction ?

From the Jackson Sun:

New lawyer in Holly Bobo case doesn't expect delay

The new lead defense attorney for one of the men charged with the first-degree murder and kidnapping of Holly Bobo said he doesn't think the change in attorneys will cause further delay in the case.

Mike Flanagan will become the main defense attorney for Jason Autry after Autry's previous attorney, Fletcher Long, was found guilty of extortion in another case Tuesday. Long will no longer be part of Autry's defense team.

"I don't see any reason for a delay," Flanagan said.

 So Flanagan does not see any reason for a delay ... we shall see !

If I was a member of the Bobo Family, I would ask that this trial be moved to another state.

If that's a serious idea, FYI that's not possible legally. It's a crime against the laws of the state of TN, investigated by the state of TN, tried by the state of TN, jury of the citizens of that state, etc. No way to remove the trial from the setting and oversight of TN.

I'm being sarcastic. Sarcasm is one of my best attributes.

EXCLUSIVE: I want to tell you about my SPECIAL REPORT airing Monday at 6! We know two suspects -- Zach Adams and Jason Autry -- are charged with murdering Holly Bobo. What we don't know is what evidence prosecutors shared with the Grand Jury to get the indictments ... That is until now! I've obtained exclusive access to details from the Bobo criminal case file. For the first time a clearer picture of the case against two accused killers. Will it be enough to get a conviction in court? Find out in my exclusive report Monday at 6!

:seeya: Thank You, Bali, for this update !

Oh, how I hope we learn something -- anything !

BBM: Just wondering, but how did Nick obtain exclusive access to these details ?

Not that I am questioning Nick, as he has been covering this case ... but just curious.

How ironic is it that within a week of one of the attorneys for one of the main defendants is no longer on this Bobo case that all of a sudden there is information to be had? At least the information presented to the Grand Jury well over a year ago to get these indictments. To me, until TN becomes more transparent from the TBI and Judicial we will still be having the same questions without answers.

Thanks for this. To everybody who didn't understood it, the above he wrote in a Facebook post. And further down in the comments he also makes the observation in an answer to someone, that while the defense says there is not one piece of evidence connecting their clients to the crime, that claim Nick Beres will show in his report not to be true.

He says there is or was "ample evidence to get an indictment." Of course, (a) that's simply stating the obvious (given that they got an indictment), (b) its low threshold doesn't guarantee compelling evidence of any kind, nor (c) does it guarantee ANY of what was presented to the GJ has been forwarded to the defense. He further touts his upcoming report with the claim that "I believe we have at least part of the evidence presented to the Grand Jury" (part of? I believe?). And he then comes off as puzzled about the evidence, adding:

"... the continued delays are ridiculous. These two suspects may indeed be guilty, but they are innocent until proven otherwise and they sure have NOT received a quick and speedy trial. You wonder if there is something wrong with the evidence?" - Nick Beres

I hope we're not being oversold on TV sweeps week smoke and mirrors with little more than a highly-pimped rehash of what we already have been told might exist, and no real answers to the delays and the actual case.

The last thing the suspects lawyers want is a speedy trial. If I was them I'd wait and let the people time, you don't want a jury full of people who are still hot about what's happened. They want to have time so the jury will calm down. If they wanted a speedy trial all they had to do was request it. I'm rather dubious about any new info this reporter's come up with, but I guess we'll see.

That's not what I meant. It seems to me you forgot the beginning of that comment.
SBBM Nick Beres: - "....I understand your skepticism. But I hope you watch. You will learn more about the case and specifics that led to the indictments of Adams and Autry. We keep hearing from the defense about how there is no evidence linking the two to Holly's murder. My story contradicts that statement. There appears to have been ample evidence to get the indictment. I believe we have at least part of the evidence presented to the Grand Jury. See it and decide for yourself. And make no mistake: I too want to see justice for Holly!"

And after the other portion you wrote, he wrote this too later:
SBM: Nick Beres: - "....I can't say that I know everything that is going on behind the scenes here. I can't explain the crazy delays. But my story will help explain at least part of the reason these two men were indicted for murder."

The last portion is how I read his first post in the first place.

I would love to see his report, but I can't as I'm from Europe. Hopefully it will be available later on their website. Although, I can't really understand how he got exclusive information.

Anyway, he is not saying they are guilty, or that he has proof of that, he is saying he will show at least part of why they were indicted and why the defense lawyer's claim about nothing linking their clients to Holly's murder is not true.

Of course we are dealing with TV report here, one needs to watch it that way, it would be naive to think otherwise. But that does't mean it can't show new information not known to the general public before.
It could also turn out disappointing, as he for example could have based his report on info the prosecution had from someone who can't testify to it anymore. Maybe he was somehow able to read those reports? We may have to wait and see. I don't think he will explain any delays, as far as I can see nowhere did he made a promise to that effect.

I understand, and I don't dismiss the idea that the defense is making claims that aren't true.

But keep in mind that there is a difference between
(a) the evidence that was presented to the grand jury to get an indictment, and
(b) the evidence (if any) that has been presented to the defense so far
(c) and based on his statements, Beres isn't even sure of what the GJ was given, much less what the defense has been provided.
