I found this on Burton Staggs Facebook page, this is from his reporting. It's a bit lengthy, but he states"legal experts say the decision should come before July 4, 2026.
From that post:
"Holly Bobo ( State of Tn vs Zach Adams) PCR
The Post Conviction Relief filled by Zach Adams for his 2017 conviction of the murder, kidnapping and rape of Decatur’ County nursing student Holly Bobo came to an end yesterday in Savannah. It started in May of this year.
Since about 4 yesterday I’ve gotten calls , text , messages. Far too many to reply.
As many of you know I’ve spent more than 10 years on this case. I don’t think I’ve missed be present at more than just a couple of hearing in that time.
So to answer the question, what do I think will happen. Will Adams get a new trial.
I can’t answer that. No one can. Except one person
I can tell this , Doug Bates and his team , worked diligently. He presented a case built on what he called new evidence, innocence’s , constitutional violations and ineffectiveness of counsel.
General Amy Weirich countered point for point for the State of Tennessee.
In closing Bates said “This ruling is not going to affect me. I’m going to go back to Hickman County and divorce people. I can tell you who is waiting on your ruling: Every dishonest member of law enforcement and prosecutor,”
Bates challenged the judge to do the right thing, the hard thing , the unpopular thing , to sign an order to give Zach Adam’s a new trial. He even quoted Chaucer “if gold rust, what shall iron do?, referring to the justice system and evidence he introduced in these hearings
General Weirich countered with. “Zach Adams was afforded one of the greatest defenses, and defense presentations, and defense team work of any accused criminal in this state. Holly Bobo was not supposed to fight as hard as she did. Holly Bobo was not supposed to fight for her life,”
She mentioned that Adam’s attorney was paid over $275,000, billed thousands upon thousands of hours, closed her practice to focus on this case and list this case on her firms website.
She compared the defense to a Hans Christian Anderson story, The Emperor Has No Clothes
To answer your question, what do I think? It doesn’t matter. It only matters what the man pictured below thinks and how he interprets the law.
In my closing: This case , had ripped a part our world. It’s changed the way we live. For you that aren’t from our part of the state, you may not understand that. The best way I can tell you is use former Decatur County Sheriff Keith Byrds worlds, before Holly kids played outside , we didn’t lock our doors. Now you question even your neighbors.
Instead of offering my thoughts, I hope you will join me in a prayer for Judge Bradberry. A prayer for guidance and discernment . He faces arguably the toughest decision a judge in Tennessee may have ever had to make.
Also pray for the Bobo family, no matter the decision, they will never be fully complete again.
Legal experts tell me that decision should come before July 4th of 2026."
